This does seem to be heading fast towards an overload of the rental market, there are families literally driving around Hua Hin as we type looking for a property to rent for a month, who have some money to spend to say the least. My missus has been unindated just because of a few signs on two side sois off 94. Her and her network of mates have placed two families of 'roamers' and there's two more still driving round being fed options by the locals. And concurring with Steve's account, they are accepting further and further out as days go by.STEVE G wrote:Apparently the complex of Thai owned rented houses where I live in the north of Hua Hin, which was half empty when I was there last month, has completely filled up over the last two days, one month minimum rent and same prices as usual.
There's a bit of a clash of what's wanted and what's available from what I've seen in that a month will be booked and paid for, but they often want the option of a second month if required. That's December, but December isn't available!! I do hope these floods die off rather rapidly soon enough, as I just do not see these HiSo charmers putting themselves on the streets in December just because some foreign tourist wants a holiday. Maybe we have yet to see the real 'rental rush' reveal itself

No that was a good example indeed, but all I have seen is good old fashioned financial exploitation of Bangkok's HiSo's, or otherwise wealthy inhabitants. 15k/month houses will be passed on for 25-30k without blinking, 30k places for 45-50k etc etc. 'There's 2 other ladies who get commission', is the favourite justification... 'surely you're just doing it cos they're horrible stuck-up snobs', I saySTEVE G wrote:Yes, it's good to see that not everyone is being selfish in these times of burden.

'Peasant' Isaan girls with a few related connections exploting the wealthy elite... bit of a collector's item I'd have thought, but even farangs getting in on the act... quite a turn up indeed
