I would't even consider a visit to a country where most of the men's first name is Bruce or Bryan.

The world's going mad!pharvey wrote:There have long been whispers, but Sesame Street has finally addressed the rumours: Bert and Ernie are best friends, but that does not mean they are gay.

It would appear to me that the more rules and regs we have, which is supposed to promote a more harmonious society, the more crime we encounter, which would suggest our society is less harmonious?

Or am I going as mad as the rest of the world about me?

These are just a couple of reasons why I like Thailand and its lack of PC.

In fact, the lack of them in Thailand is the reason why I chose to live here. The last time I went to South Africa the country was going the same way as the UK and etc, in that there seems to be rules for everything, and judging from the high crime rate there, the rules are obviously failing miserably.
Thanks for the original post Terry, it really does sum it up nicely. It seems to me it's only white skinned westerners that have bought into the whole "political correctness" thing. Perhaps I'm wrong, but until I see otherwise, I'll go on believing that, and BTW, this is not intended as a racist comment.

I just avoid using terms which sound wrong to me - in other words which sound rude and disrespectful. What does cause problems is dealing with ethnic minorities who are clearly on the fiddle. I recently had to close a case I was dealing with for an Indian couple, but you have to be very sure of your grounds and then just firmly stick with the decision and f... the lot of 'em!

Political Correctness is a repressive social tyranny. The communists used it with great effect to control the people... http://www.ourcivilisation.com/pc.htmtraveller2 wrote:It would appear to me that the more rules and regs we have, which is supposed to promote a more harmonious society, the more crime we encounter, which would suggest our society is less harmonious?
Oz gets a mention..
Australian Experience Of PC Tyranny
In my country the tyranny erupted with the persecution of public figures such as Arthur Tunstall for uttering truths that had become unpopular, either directly in a speech, or indirectly by telling jokes. The maiden speech of the Federal Member of Parliament for Ipswich contained so many disliked truths that the rabble escalated the ferocity of their attack and extended them to her supporters, introducing terror into Australian politics. Anyone who watched the TV coverage (1997/8) of Pauline Hanson's political campaign will have seen the nature of her opponents; a throng who looked and behaved more like barbarians than citizens of a civilized community. And any mob that chants "Burn the witch" (when she spoke outside an Ipswich hall after she had been refused entry) leaves no doubt as to their intent or character.
Is this 'tyranny' being applied mainly to 'white Christian society? Of course it is. If you dare try to defend your own culture against multiculturalism, the 'promotion' of homosexuality, the destruction of Christian religion (the only organization that was large enough to unite the people (now destroyed)), the sexualization of the young, the trashing of the English language, the general degradation of white society.. you are set upon by all the champions of political correctness. The media, populist politicians, petty bureaucrats and the mob, sewing the seeds of their own enslavement.
The premise is that nobody is allowed to be offended. Whether they should take offence in the first place is irrelevant. From this standpoint come the 'Hate-speech' laws. Now you are in a dark place as a society.

Wow, I think I agree with everything you just wrote MrPlum.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Another angle on PC - just got this in the mail..........
This is too true to be funny.
The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.
A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E.
A billion Pounds ago was only 13 hours and 12 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
Stamp Duty
Tobacco Tax
Corporate Income Tax
Income Tax
Council Tax
Unemployment Tax
Fishing License Tax
Petrol/Diesel Tax
Inheritance Tax (tax on top of tax)
Alcohol Tax
V.A.T.
Marriage License Tax
Property Tax
Service charge taxes
Social Security Tax
Vehicle License Registration Tax
Vehicle Sales Tax
Workers Compensation Tax
STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt.
We had the largest middle class in the world. Mum stayed home to raise the kids, Dad was allowed to discipline kids, a criminal’s life was uncomfortable.
What the hell happened?
'Political Correctness', Politicians or both?
I hope this goes around the UK
at least a billion times.
Makes you think

Ermmm...a hundred years ago Britain had an Empire that allowed us to rape and pillage all the precious resources the countries under our control had.....hence no need to tax the masses excessively

They did abolish the dog-licence tax though, 7/6d saved by dog owners.
Re: Political Correctness
The UK has had a national debt since 1694 and a hundred years ago it was about 650 million pounds. Not much longer after that at the end of the First World War it was way over seven billion.
