Mini-bus to Ranong (Andaman Club)

Post by dotx »

Is there a mini-van that leaves Hua Hin in the morning and gets to the boat in time? Not the big VIP bus, but a mini-van. I'd like to be back in Hua Hin on the same day (I know it'll be a pain, but I have reasons for not wanting to be away overnight).

If you drive why not rent a car and do it, I did it a couple of times, car for 1000 baht and i think it was 2000 baht in petrol, plus 200 for the private long tail boat, took 12 hours in total.

see if you can get a couple of others of the forum to chip in, i enjoyed the drive when i did it on my own and give the car some hammer

What happened to the minivan service, was it discontinued?

If you leave here at about three or four in the morning, you can get there and back on a Honda Wave before midnight. :thumb: Done it several times in the past myself.......great fun, and a bloody sore ass.

PS: Hua-Hin to Ubon on a Wave is slightly more challenging

I've done the Andaman trip a couple of times but have had to use a taxi, which worked out quite expensive. For the last 2 years I've done the more basic visa run, using the service whose office is situated on the crescent opposite the train station. They leave at 6am and return approx 12 hours later. Ferry is by way of longtail boat and, depending where it's moored, you have to be fairly agile to cross other boats to get to it. The bus is comfortable and in August this year the cost was 2,500 baht, (including $10 fee, water and a ham roll), and I've found the service to be very reliable.

Thanks everybody. I found the office across from the train station. I wanted the fancier boat, but I guess this will do. Cost is still 2,500 baht, in case anybody's wondering.

I didn't know the Andaman trip required a taxi (?).
