A lot of indian restaurants in the London area are actually run and managed by folk from the Bangla Desh - the old East Pakistan, although thats not the case in Southall, where most folk are Sikhs from the Punjab (or Somalians these days).

The same as many high street Thai restaurants in the UK are managed and run by Chinese or are Brit/Thai run. Some of the latter sell shocking food, if simply based on having a Thai wife and some are fantastic, where the wife really is a Thai chef.

I've experienced both.

That could explain why the English chaps I've discussed Indian food with know as much about it as an American who's complete knowledge of cheese begins and ends with what is served at McDonalds.

Homer, you may have wide experience of all things Indian, but somehow I doubt you're a typical American!

Impossible to say edwa. Ask 20 people you may get 20 different answers... like asking what's the best French restaurant in Paris.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

As a local resident of soi 94 I would heartily recommend Bar Tender, its a cracking little bar which has now become my regular haunt, the breakfast is spot on and the fish and chips are certainly the best I have tasted in Thailand, as are the home made pasties.
I've spent many a boozy night in there watching the football and having a chat.
Oh and the beers cheap as well ... I'll try a few in there tonight if anyones about.
