I think Hua Hin should be fenced off as an independent ex-pat republic for the over thirty fives. If you can't remember the Ringos crisps (sorry, not crisps - reconstituted maize snacks) advert then you should be banned and exiled to Phi Phi.

Is there a bowling green in Hua Hin?

I'm over 35 but can't recall that advert? Where does that leave me? Cha-am, Pranburi, the Elephant Village, The Hilton disco?????

Maybe my test is flawed as the chances are that if you are over 45 then you won't remember it either. A cartoon of two cavemen inventing the wheel and then abandoning it in favour of the Ringo was probably not as exciting as the Undertones or the Sex Pistols to those a few years older!

Finding this topic rather amusing. Glad we can all be friends again! Randy, I think your post was an apology, accepted.

How about remembering the introduction of colour TVs as an age test - seen as something of a technological marvel at the time! :P

Im young, i visit 2 times a year sultry. I really enjoy getting out and around in the country surrounding hh on a motorbike, there are some top spots to visit i always take a ride to paalu waterfall every visit.
I try and get a few games of golf in as well, conduct some mayhem at the atv park at least once a visit. And amongst all this i drink at the various watering holes in town, and do run into a small number of people in the 20-30 age group. Some of the best nights on the town i have had has been with euros who cant speak hardly any english, and i know not a word of there language and we have had a fat time. Also when i was last there i noticed a few more backpackers who were more inclined to seek advice on where to stay what to do ect from younger people as the perception they have of the older crew in and around HH is that of the hardened ST veteran.
As for young people pissing off to pattaya and phuket im not a fan of pattaya cause im not a hardcore ST and phuket is more expensive to stay to enjoy the same sorta activities as i do in HH

Good to see all the old hands have given you some helpful advice sultry.
You obviously got it judging by your comment i have quoted.

As i mentioned in my last post i have always managed to bump into people my own age whilst in HH. Now i tend to wonder amongst different bars each time i visit, but after a few days i usually just stick to 3 or 4 regulars and it is mainly because i have met some good crew at them, and thats where we all end up congregating after a day full of action.
Last time i visited the bars i mainly watered at were- Limelight, Nids place,
Flamingo, Coconuts i even went to the Hilton a few nights even though i detest the place but thats where my drinking buddies were headed.
I guess its all what your after from a bar too. There are plenty of selections, stroll by them, see someone your age in a bar stop and have a chat and some liquid refreshment just about everyone is approachable after all most of the people there are in holiday mode.

Thanks olmate.

I'm moving in 2 weeks but I don't really know anyone in HH. So I can't help but worry that I'll end up lonely :(

Hi there Sultry
When you want to hang out with the young crowd just visit Nioght market between 6 and 8 pm there can you find University students who are looking for something to eat (Stamford Students included). Next month will be the Inter Hotel and Unoversity Football Tournament which is being held every year. yoiu could go to that event and meet some intereeting people. Another place would be where all the University Shuttle Buses stop in Hua Hin it's right opposite the Esso Gas Stationin front of the Doctors Office or the International Poly Clinc there.
Another Location would be The Bew Hua Hin Village Market with the 4 Screens Major Cineplex Movie Theatre. There you will find also students who will come and watch movies that had been newly releases
Where young people like to go out @ Night? Stamford Students prefer The Blue Star Discotech Right next too Hin Nam Sai Suay Condo, or if there was a party in Campus @ Stamford Students usually meet up afterwards @ HIlton's Brewing Company to Continue partying until closing time.
I Hope I could help you my Man!!!

I think it was Burger that said it but us 30-somethings are in the middle here.

Too old for the hip talk, flashy new mobiles, campus life and dancing the night away but too young for flat caps, afternoon naps, and sitting around all day doing bugger all and enjoying retirement.

You just cant win no matter what age you are

It doesn't matter how old you are
You still can enjpy Life in Hua Hin
wether it's the laid back Chill Óut style,
or the Nightly Highlife Kind.

I had done it all in Bangkok and Hua Hin (during my study years).

Now working and Paper (Money) Chasin still far away from retirement but thank god I have an Huai Hin to retreat und recharge my Battery again!

people below 30

Post by igor1 »

Hello Sultry,

My experience is that people coming in from bangkok for the weekends all tend to go to Hilton - regardless of age.

Younger thais living here tend to go to Nam sai suey (A Karaoke) or "style" which is the Disco below the Karaoke.
I have met up with some nice, fairly young thai people that basically go out every night. They are from Hua Hin and in their view girls from the town will rarely go to Hilton (at least alone) as so many working girls go there. I know from personal experience though that many very nice non working girls do go to hilton- but they are not originally from Hua Hin.

Im below 30 myself and like to mix with the younger crowds as well. If you pm your phonenumber and ill give you a call next time we go out
