Hopefully the cooking is better than the spelling!!

Looks a bit empty, business not good then

If they can't spell the name of the city, I'm not sure I would trust the food...

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Re: New Japanese restauarant - Naresdamri road
It might not be meant to be the name of the city. "Toki yo"? *Almost* makes sense, but not sure if it would as a restaurant name.

The gf and I tried it last night.
I had a couple of very simple dishes - cold buckwheat noodles with dipping sauce and a tuna roll. GF had tempura shrimp and vegetables. The noodles and sauce were very good and the portion was large, and the waitress didn't look at me like I was crazy when I asked for hot water after I finished my noodles. The tuna roll was competent but a little small - the tuna itself was fresh and good. GF liked her tempura okay, but she has only recently started to eat Japanese food and is still a bit leery of anything but gyoza. I should have tried the tempura but didn't think of it at the time. I wasn't planning a review.
We were the only customers and the chef came by for a chat. He said they were in a soft opening phase and the grand opening would be New Year's Eve. He said the owner is a half Italian, half Japanese lady who speaks fluent Thai, so perhaps she grew up here - that wasn't clear. The chef said the owner is out of town at the moment.
The waitress was friendly, quick, got our order right and brought the check and my change promptly.
Given the situation, soft opening, not expecting many customers, owner out of town, etc. I thought they did well. We'll definitely try it again some time after the grand opening.

What happened to the one near the Sofitel?
Is this maybe a spin off from that?

How was the pricing - comparatively speaking to other restaurants? I do enjoy my Japanese food, must admit.HHADFan wrote:The gf and I tried it last night.
