I've always suspected it (due to my love of beer and fish 'n chips and my warped sense of humo(u)r ). Now I know I'm a Brit (by bloodline).
An Uncle of mine traced our (paternal) family tree back 10 generations where that oldest generation was born in Cheshire, England. Maybe that's why I like cooler weather!
My 8th generation back immigrated from Sussexshire (Sussex?), England to North Carolina sometime between 1750 and 1760.
Anyone else traced their roots?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Certainly something I've been interested in doing over the years, but for one reason or another have never got around to doing........ mind you, as no bugger talks to one another in my family, could be somewhat difficult!!

Somebody moved from northern Switzerland to South-East Finland in 1593, probably married someone in our family line and the family name was changed from a traditional Finnish one to our present name. We haven't been able to go back in time any further.
Yes, my Father's Dad's side originally comes from Belfast, or a section of Belfast known as St. George's. Way back when it could have been a separate town/city all in itself, I don't know. Had many from that side fight in WWI for Britain and two in WWII. Father's Mom's side from London. My Mother's side is not as clear, German but from the Alsace region, a real mixed up area throughout history. Pete

My ancestry consists of irish, Scottish, American and English.
My great grandmother was native american, my father is american, my mother english.
Some really interesting individuals in my family tree too.
I hope you enjoy finding out about your forbears HHF.
Of particular interest, I also found out that I am distantly related, not in direct bloodline, but from a branch from a brother of someone in my direct bloodline, to a very famous British author.
I also have some native American ancestry from my maternal side. I was always told that my grandmother was 1/8th Cherokee so someone 3 generations before her was a Cherokee on that side.

Hey, Chief HHF, you can't just drop this into the thread without naming names! Dickens? Hardy? Enid Blyton?
I guess when we met I didn't tell you my last name and I'd rather not reveal it here (even though many members know it, there may be some things I've written that cause me to want to remain anonymous to someone who may be reading this forum), but next time (soon) when we meet for another book swap I'll fill you in.

I have done considerable research in the past and am a member of several genealogical groups. Maternal is English in recent times but goes back to the Hugonauts who fled France.. Paternal is Scottish back to 1600's. Scottish research is fairly easy, mainly due considerable records freely available thru Church of LDS, and Parish records. Irish often difficult due to many records being destroyed by burning by "visiting" British troops.
PH see me during your annual pilgrimage to HH and I will give you some clues.
