Apart from the Maserati, and the Bentley I think they are all over priced and suck

Thais will go for them though. Status is more important than performance and style

I'm surprised there's no Audi on the list, given the amount of them that seem to flood Hua-Hin on weekends. Nice cars though, and certainly a lot better than those mentioned in the list.

Yes, I think the article would have been better if they split it into two top 10 lists: 1) Cars manufactured or kit assembled here. 2) Available by import only. Pete

The article would help even more if they stipulated what criteria the 10 had been picked against. I've looked at the list, and there is not one car that would appear in my top 10, but then again I'm probably looking for something completely different to the author.

As an example, what does the Kia Soul have that puts in the author's top 10? In his own words, "The poor boy’s Mini Countryman."

Big Boy - A mini countryman here will set you back 3 million, hence the hopelessly crap Kia Soul is the 'poor boys' hopelessly crap mini countryman but at half price.

I'm surpised there's no enterprising Thai's offering this sort of conversion

I wouldn't put a Mini Countryman in to any top 10 anywhere in the world either.

Quite like the BMW and Hyundai on the ''sensible'' cars...... but you must be having a bloody giraffe on the prices!! Could get a decent house in HH for the price of a 2ltr Diesel.......

True, and that's a frame of mind you have to get rid of if one moves here and wants to buy a car, or it will drive you insane. They're all double or more than what we've experienced in the west, even the simple Toyotas and Hondas. An exception are the pick up trucks....perhaps 1.5 their retail in the west. Most if not all of the extra goes to the government, not to the car manufacturers. They don't have a sophisticated income tax system here. Given that, the blood of the country is VAT, excise taxes, customs duties, corporate tax etc. Pete
