This bridge is on the Old Donner Pass Highway . It has a spectacular view of Donner Lake and Donner Pass on Route 40.

A bear was walking across Rainbow Bridge ( Old Hwy 40 at Donner Summit , Truckee ) on Saturday when two cars, also crossing the bridge, scared the bear into jumping over the edge of the bridge. Somehow the bear caught the ledge and was able to pull itself to safety. Authorities decided that nothing could be done to help Saturday night so they returned Sunday morning to find the bear sound asleep on the ledge.

After securing a net under the bridge the bear was tranquilized, fell into the net, lowered, then woke up and walked out of the net.

Still some decent folks around it seems......... and some bloody lucky bears!!

The Best Day Of Fishing Ever!
I've heard of salmon jumping into boats, but never anything quite like this...
Tom Satre told the Sitka Gazette that he was out with a charter group on his 62-foot
fishing vessel when four juvenile black-tailed deer swam directly toward his boat.

"Once the deer reached the boat, the four began to circle the boat, looking
directly at us. We could tell right away that the young bucks were distressed.
I opened up my back gate and we helped the typically skittish and absolutely wild animals onto the boat. In all my years fishing, I've never seen anything quite like it!
Once onboard, they collapsed with exhaustion, shivering."

"This is a picture I took of the rescued bucks on the back of my boat, the Alaska
Quest. We headed for Taku Harbour . Once we reached
the dock, the first buck that we had been pulled from the water hopped
onto the dock, looked back as if to say 'thank you' and disappeared into the forest.
After a bit of prodding and assistance, two more followed,
but the smallest deer needed a little more help.

My daughter, Anna, and son, Tim, helped the last buck to its feet.
We didn't know how long they had been in the icy waters or if there
had been others who did not survive. My daughter later told me that the
experience was something that she would never forget, and I suspect the deer felt
the same way as well!"

Before I became a scuba diver and all my attention went to underwater photography, I spent a few years (vacations) doing outdoor nature photography, mostly in the northwest U.S.

Too true HHF

Spent many trips around and about in the US and once you leave the concrete it's great. People, life style and scenery is awesome. Nowt like the movies and media portray

Always been a dream to do a big tour of the US - "Route 66" being one of them. Unfortunately, takes a tad longer than the 2 weeks vacation allowed!! Just need to win the lottery and retire early......

Great photos HHF. I loved the look of the 'Tetons', all that snow on high mountains.
I lived in Rapid City a while, so am familiar with Mt Rushmore and the area, lots to see and do.

I've just tried a test file, and everything is working fine for me. Is it still happening to you, or was it a short term glitch?
