Will be heading to Hua Hin soon and am curious if there is any difficulty changing Canadian currency specifically the new $100 bills but Canadian currency in general?
Cheers,
Sean

Re: Canadian currency
The banks in Thailand seemed up to speed only on the issue of the new version of the 50`s and 100`s. We had some older ones mixed in with the new ones they questioned those with extra visual check but took them as well but soon the the bank would be rejecting the old version is what the bank mentioned to us..

Just an FYI...ATM`s use four pin codes password in Thailand o.k. If your going to get money from your credit crad from the bank they will need to see your passport as well if not useing the ATM. Safer too..Lastly its best to exchange a bit of Canadian to Thai baht before you get to Thailand then one less worry when arriving. Enough for taxi and maybe the first day or two..2000 Thai baht? (up to you)..make sure its in smaller bills like 100`s if you can to ease then hassle of trying to break the bigger bills like 1000`s.
have a great Trip(ah)<<<Thats canadian hoser.

Don't exchange much in Canada. Like "tingtongjohn" says, bring a couple thousand for taxis and stuff. The exchange rate is better in the Bangkok airport than a bank in Canada.
All banks in Thailand have different exchange rates so look around.

I carry some $1 US bills whenever I travel, along with extra pass port photos and copies of my PP and visas.
$1 US--Good for tipping even taxis. I think 1 euros might do well too, but they will stare at your Candian money, see the queen and say Pound???

A few points..Canadian to exchange has never been an issue when I have been to Thailand at any of the Thai banks. It is not mistakened for the Pound or euro. As for bringing U.S bucks why?..Then you have to take the penalty for exchanging to U.S then to Thai a double hit with no real reward and more then likely a loss due to conversion rates.. Travel checks is a good idea if lost can be replaced except for there is a fee on each check when exchanging. A passport will be needed when exchanging the T/C`s as well. (IMHO)
