Thanks also to margaretcarnes and TimandT. One more question to TimandT who wrote "about 16.30 ish which gets in to HH about quarter to ten - given a back wind!" - should we suppose the train always to be (much) late?

It was actually Margaret who wrote about the train arriving at about quarter to ten.
I have only taken two train trips down south of Hua Hin, both arrived from Bangkok about 25 minutes late so not bad considering it is only a single track etc.

Read in today's BKK Post that the Southern Bus Station is re-opening tomorrow.
(Do not know of the flooded-roads situation between Swampy airport/city centre & the SBS..sorry).

Thanks. I will be leaving from Suvarnabhumi Airport for Europe at about 1 am. Would you say its a good/reliable option to take the train from HH at 4 pm (arriving Bangkok 7.45 pm according to time table). I suppose there are different solutions to go from train station to airport.

Are those 1330 and 1630 trains air con? I was told there were only two air con second class per day, at 0920 and 2250. I took an early afternoon train once (around 1330?) and that was non air-con/fan only.

I was told at the sales counter in Hualalumpong station that they will not sell a ticket from there only to Hua Hin on the "tourist trains," the ones that turn into sleeper bunks in First & Second class.

Hello Leo
Thank you - but we are still in Europe and would need a transfer from our hotel in BKK to HH on 4 January 2012
(and two weeks later back to BKK).
Actually I can not send a PM to you - because I do not have 10 posts yet :(
I might try to call him from here...

Am looking for a new Hua Hin based minibus guy to do airport pick-up's for close to 2,500 Baht, existing guy won't do it for less than 3k nowadays.

Does anyone have any contact numbers please? Again it's for a minibus, not a car.

Thanks in advance for any info...

Or ring Pu on 0859690194 Tell her Kevin sent you. She is taking my wife to the airport tomorrow.

They are based in a guesthouse on Poonsuk, Happy or Smile ?? next to M & A guesthouse

I normally use a car at 1,800 but when there was 4 of us we took the minibus at 2,500.

Inside the minibus was like a futuristic brothel :rasta: ....................... :naughty:

Mr. Ling was only minutes away.
Driving his fully loaded newer Toyota Camry. Drove in a very safe manner. Would stop anywhere you wanted. My better half and I shared the back seat with plenty of room to spare.
Large trunk fit my oversized hard golf club case and 1 large and small suitcase.

Anybody needing a private car for a good price...call Mr. Ling.

We can just confirm the words above.
Leo organized that Mr. Ning picked us at our hotel in BKK and he was there 30 minutes before waiting for us.
Mr. Ning drove in a safe manner and not to fast to HH.
After our holidays in HH, he called us a day before to confirm the transfer back to BKK (next day).
Nice and clean car - very save.
BKK - HH 1'800.--THB
HH - BK 1'600.-- THB
plus a little tip.

Thank you Leo for organizing.

We have already told him to pick us up in March from BKK airport...
