I actually pulled out my moth eaten Thai dictionary and "farmer" in Thai is chow nah. I initially thought Kasikorn may have been the word for it..LOL. I think it was a merger between TFB and ?, but I missed the details. Petebuksida wrote:It is the K' bank but "K" can mean many things ... I know what my translation is...

Credit card from a Thai bank
You may well find that HSBC will not send cards abroad anyway, particularly to Thailand as you've pointed out. I'm not sure, but certainly, mine won't.Limey711 wrote:We have just closed all our accounts with our bank, in preparation to move to Hua Hin in 9 weeks time, cant wait by the way.
We opened new accounts with the HSBC bank, who have a branch in Bangkok, we have full internet access to our accounts and we can transfer monies, between the banks.
My only concern, is that when our cards expire in three yrs time and they issue new ones, is the postal service within Thailand reliable. I have been informed there is a lot of credit card fraud within Thailand and you can spot the envelope with a new credit card in from a hundred paces.
Perhaps the HSBC bank in Bangkok can issue new cards, that is one avenue we are looking in to.
The answer is to have the card sent to a reliable address in the UK and forwarded from there. That might be what you're intending anyway (as a PS on that, you may find that all statements and correspondence have go to the address as well. Again, mine has to. They won't entertain two addresses).
Your alternative of getting BKK to do the issuing sounds a much safer and logical way to go.
There's a seperate thread running on the postal service that maybe will not make you so secure about sending cards. Incidently, I've had a number successfully sent over here by my parents. They are very careful to make the envelope look like it contains photos though.
