Super Joe wrote:If it's the internet & mms APN setting's that's been screwed you can add them manually into the phone, you just need to get the settings from AIS website or wherever. I've just done this for a friend's True settings, it's... Settings - Wireless & Network - Mobile Networks - Access Point Names... then very bottom left button of phone and 'New APN'.

There's a good app called 'APN Backup & Restore' which is handy. If you were struggling with it you could get someone with AIS to do the back-up with this app and bluetooth/email whatever it to you and you do a restore through same app. They're stored on the phone not the sim from what I could gather, but if you had 2 sims and swapped them over it recognizes which one's which and 'reloads' it's correct settings.

Thanks for the help. My display looks similar to your attachment but AIS doesn't show up. True, DTAC and a couple others do.

Went to the phone shop at Market Village. Of course my 3G started working as soon as I checked it coming into the mall. Still didn't show up on the APN list but it was active anyway. Went to the shop to ask what was going on and got the story and fix. Turns out that since I had turned off GPS in the location and security menu AIS didn't know where I was and so wouldn't work. In market Village it can figure it out. If GPS is off and the phone is not downtown it won't work. It has to know where you are. Doesn't make sense to me but I'm not used to this idea that everyone needs to know where I am and what I'm doing. I don't know if the other 3G providers needs this info. I know that Google wants it as they sell the information.

Thanks to others with their ideas also.

Can't recommend any but if you drag left to right on the 1st Market screen it takes you to categories, including education.

BaaBaa./SJ,

I've been offered a Samsung Galaxy S2 (brand new - still boxed) for £200. This is a genuine offer of a genuine product (I'm not going into details here) - not off the back of a lorry. Does this sound like a good deal please?

If I invested my hard earned cash, how easy would it be to get it up and running when I get to Thailand?

Sounds like a bl**dy great deal to me BB - I paid double that for mine. Obviously not based in Thailand/HH, but I've used mine there previously with a pre-paid SIM card with zero problems.

Bite his hand off IMHO.

BB 1st thing to do is make sure it is not locked to one particular carrier. I cannot use a Thai sim card in one of my phones that is locked to Optus prepaid. I can get it unlocked once I have recharged a set number of times though. Not sure about the Android phones, but have been told that a lot of the iPhone's are very hard to unlock from the original carriers, so may pay to check that out 1st

Also while on this thread, has anyone come across and decent docking stations with speakers (similar to the iPod/iPhone ones) for use with Android phones. Have found that Phillips do one but is around $150AUD at present.

Failing that are there any leads available (with mini USB on one end and iPod/iPhone connection on the other) that would allow me to use one of the iPod style stations using that type of lead.

I've been looking for the same thing, like a mini boombox or speakers that will connect via normal headphone jack for use with a non Apple phone or MP3 player. No luck so far.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Have seen some sort of mobile speakers here in Australia, but wanted something a bit better than that. Will see if I can find the info and post here later

Here is the Phillips one

HH, I just bought a lead that goes from mini-jack to twin phono plugs that you can connect to a normal stereo amplifier, they sell them in most larger hifi shops.

I would bite his hand off BigBoy, that's a bargain. You'll have no problem whatsoever using it in Thailand if it's unlocked/non branded.

Can't help on the speakers, I always make sure my phone has a 3.5mm jack.

So your headphones connect via mini usb? Charger too?

Baabaa
Can operate with headphone OK. Headphones have normal straight pin type jack connection and and charger is the mini USB at the bottom of the phone.
According to the info on the only one I have found so far it docks via the Mini USB in the same fashion as the iPods do.
If I could get a cable with a mini USB on one end and the iPhone/iPod connection, I could probably use it like that on the other types. But as yet no luck with the cable either.

As said BB, I wouldn't hesitate at that price assuming its compatible with TrueMove here. If they're doing any similar deals on the 'Note' I'll have one!!

OK, thanks guys. I'll contact him later to ensure it's not locked down (I don't think it is), and more importantly, to see if it's still available.

If it is locked down, is it an easy task to get it unlocked please?
