A funny thing happed on the way to the Forum(Hua Hin)
Well I know driving can be a interesting time in Thailand. What with the make your own lanes and beep at the cross roads and at temples as you drive by. But I digress. We took our new car into the shop last week as my wife said it was making a weird noise. A beep or something she said. It ended up being our daughters toy under the seat as the battery was running low so it was beeping..Shop put it up and on the tester and such. Could not find anything but after the check they cleaned the car and found the problem under the drivers seat beeping softly.. Problem solved!

One word is not a story but it is the beginning and end of one.

Good thread to start TTJ. Life can sometimes be funny here and I'm sure others have stories to share.
This morning a Thai neighbor and friend called my wife and frantically told her she thought our dog had rabies or was very sick. The missus took a look and he was foaming at the mouth all right, but we've seen it many times before as he is hooked on some drug that a certain type of toad here secretes. He grabs them in his mouth and holds them for a minute, then spits them out and proceeds to foam and act crazy for a few minutes.... I've thought about trying it but can't identify the particular variety of toad....

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I can remember when the frog noises on Poolsuk were from frogs in the ponds and not hill tribe vendors. Alas the pools and frogs have gone but the HT vendors are still spawning

And I can remember the first time I ever heard (on Samui 8+ years ago) the amazing racket kicked up by thousands of frogs after heavy rain. I honestly thought it must be a herd of very angry buffalo!
EDIT: It wasn't on the way to the forum, but on the way to Island Books, near Lamai. I wonder if Paul is still there?

A friend of mine bought a house and began hearing funny noises in one of the rooms. It was not all the time but now and then. He thought some animal had got stuck somewhere...anyway after a bit of investigation, found out that the cowboy builders had plaster boarded over the smoke alarm
Apparently they can go on for about 5 years before running out of warning beeps

The story continues..Late one night HHFarange sneaks out to lick a toad. Neighbor calls wife about husband having rabies as he is foaming at the mouth and acting crazy. Wife says nothing new.

An amusing tale of lack of communication.
A friend bought a cheap Tuk Tuk here on Samui. it had been stood for a while so he wanted to get it serviced. A local told him that Somchai down the road used to live and work in BKK so knew these vehicles well. The trouble is my friend speaks very little Thai and Somchai speaks no English at all. After a lot of pointing and gesturing he finally gets the message my friend wants the vehicle serviced. Success. he then remembered that it was kicking out some blue smoke when revved hard. Another 20 minutes of pointing and gesturing then he pointed to a bit of blue design on Somchai,s T shirt and then pointed to the exhaust. A big grin appeared on his face and the penny had dropped. My friend left happy that he had managed to get it sorted. he went back a few days later to pick it up. Somchai showed my friend the old oil and filter and the old plugs etc then went to the back of the Tuk Tuk where there was a big new shiny blue big bore exhaust kit fitted. When he started it up it still kicked out the blue smoke but sounded a little better

I never forget a face but in your case I'll make an exception!
