Thanks to everybody for their good wishes. I've had the op, and all went very well - they've let me out of hospital 4 days earlier than originally expected. 2 days, and 3 kilos lost (of course my stomach must have weighed something).

It's still another couple of weeks before I can eat again. However, the part of the stomach they've removed is the part that contains the hormones, which tell the brain that you want food. Therefore no food is not any problem whatsoever.

The best part, my (type 2 - fat boy) diabetes is under control without medication, and the doctors expect this to continue. All around, a win-win situation.

Glad all went well BB :) It must feel strange not wanting to eat. Wow 3 kilos! Sounds like a new wardrobe to me :) (well a woman would think like this )

Good news about the Diabetes :)

That's good news BB all sunny skies from here on out, at least in Thailand. :D How are you getting nutrition if you can't eat. Are you hooked up to a saline tube?. Best wishes. Pete

Today I've had 4 small cups of coffee (200mls, which takes 30 minutes to drink) - one more in 30 minutes. I think I'm literally living off my fat. I do take 1 A to Z vitamin each day.

The capacity of my stomach is now 100ml. If I try to consume more than that in fluid or food, I will want to bring it up again. Until now I've been sipping water 20ml per hour supplemented by coffee since yesterday lunchtime.

From midday tomorrow, I move on to smooth fluids for a week. That includes 1000mls of milk each day. I can also have cuppa soup providing it has no lumps and 1 banana smoothie per day made with the milk. That mightn't sound too bad, but for example, the banana smoothie I will only be able to consume 100ml. If I want more, I will have to wait 15 minutes.

The order of the day is NO LUMPS.

It's all academic because I don't even feel hungry any more.

Great news on the successful surgery BB, faster than usual recovery, and diabetes!

The important diet question is... when can you have a beer!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Well done BB, getting your health issues taken care of is certainly the right thing to do before retiring here; I take my hat off to you.

That could be quite some time, if ever  Even if/when I can have a beer, I will not be able to 'power drink' any more. My capacity will be 400mls per hour.
