just in case anyones interested? i bought a new motorbike just less than six weeks ago,i have my white plate already,im impressed. but had no trouble with the red garage plate,day or night.huahin is just full of red plates,it could be a good place to leave you a ticket? i was ok.

The only time you'll get fined for anything to do with red plates, is if the BIB are out specifically for that reason, or at the occasional "fine the Farang" check points. The same generally applies to other road offenses as well, such as no helmet, no tax, and etc. Most times however, the BIB can't be bothered stopping you. You're more likely to get a fine for parking on the left hand side of the road on a Friday.

ive had a few cars/trucks with red plates ,its hit and miss wether you get stopped i did quite often with the car but the pick ups not many problems im talkng going out up north or bkk . no problems at all in hua hin just out of province and especially at night
the police do make the rules up ( or stick to them) depending if the tea kitty is low
some garages also do give official red plates and log book out ,the genuine plates are embossed with a stamp these are the real ones and should come with a book ,the others are copy plates
