Bank safety deposit boxes

Post by centermid7 »

I'm looking for some info about bank boxes to rent. In the States I believe they are called safety deposit boxes.

Are they available at the banks in Hua Hin? What is involved in renting one in terms of paperwork? Costs?

I'll bet not all branches have them. If you know of any banks that DO have them that would be great.

I did a search here but came up empty. I probably made a hash of it.

Thank you.

I know the big Kasikorn in town, (opposite Esso) has them, but when I asked several years ago they were all full and very rarely became vacant, demand was apparently high and supply very limited. Reading between the lines, they said don't bother, you are never going to get one!

Not sure if anything has changed since then, this was 4+ years ago I guess. Can't imagine there has been much change, as the trend is towards many small branches dotted around town, rather than a large central location.

If you want to get a Safe Deposit Box at a bank you will need to apply and go on the waiting list.

As this could be a long wait , I suggest that if you have a Thai wife you make the application in her name

By a safe and cement it into your house ......I've been on the waiting list at Bangkok Bank for years.
Why is it called 'after dark' when it really is 'after light'?

FYI: It's almost just as impossible to get a P.O. Box. I got one only thanks to patience and intervention by my Thai wife.

Word of political correctness: Do not, rpt NOT, deposit money or valuables in your P.O. Box!
