Tourism Authority of Thailand - Headquarter team recently visited Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa to inspect Indian wedding functions.
Tourism Authority of Thailand's strategy highlights two selling points of Thailand, as a cultural destination and a tourism hub.
The strategy is linked to the local tourism and hotels are focusing more on India and the meetings incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) market. Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa has been targeting India and has been the most popular destination hotel for Indian weddings and wedding parties for the past 4 years.
Our hotel has organized many different cultured weddings in the past, ranging from Thai, Korean and Indian weddings.
We have held one of the largest and most glamorous Indian wedding celebrations in Thailand.

I picked up on this story as well. In the version I saw, it mentioned how much many Indians spend on weddings. The amount is huge - millions of Baht, if I remember correctly.

I have read what seems a disproportionate amount of complaints on these travel-based forums, from what seems genuine guests, during Indian wedding times. Basically disruption from the late noise, restaurant or other facilities reserved or generally disrupted in order to cater for the weddings. There's no issue with the guests, weddings are parties and a wedding on a trip away would make for a double party.
Most say they loved the place otherwise but vow not to return. This is your 'brand name' 5* places of course. It's obviously big business for them and too lucrative to turn down. Hopefully it will drive this people towards renting instead
