I am a very keen fan of Espresso coffee and have recently been trying brands other than the 500+ baht names like Lavazza and Cafe Illy.
Just recently I tried Doi coffee priced at around 160 baht and found it to be fantastic value and exactly how I like my Espresso, strong, with a good crema gusto. It comes packaged in a gold sachet and is sold in Tesco and Macro along with other smaller chains.
FYI I am using a Saeco Royal Cappuccino Auto bought from Bon Cafe.
I would recommend any like minded Espresso addicts to give it a try

I also use the Doi ithahon espresso coffee beans if that is the same make ?
Very much a coffee person on a morning.
One of my pet hates though is going into a coffee place or cafe and asking for a large black coffee. I then get asked whether I want an Americano, espresso, Latte etc when all I want is just a plain black coffee. How hard is it to do ?
I never forget a face but in your case I'll make an exception!
The new Macro stock 5 or 6 different varieties of Bon Cafe in ground and beans ranging from 85 baht to about 130 baht. I am working my way through the different varieties but they have all been acceptable or better and amazing value
Icebear......I have been a user of Lavazza beans and ground coffee for over 25 years but let me assure you that I prefer the taste of Doi. As much as it hurts to say it Starbucks know how to deliver the perfect espresso and Doi delivers the same on my machine. Give it a try,you only have 160baht to lose if not to your taste.
Dannie Boy....prior to Doi I have been through a lot of tasting with new coffees(beans and ground).
Bon Cafe Espresso Creme Gusto(not on sale in Macro) was getting there taste wise as was Suzuki Espresso but after I tasted Doi the first time I said to myself " Frickin hell, that's the one!!"...really,it was that good.
Espresso is of course a matter of taste and I like mine very short and strong with plenty of Crema Gusto. I hate it when I ask for an espresso in a coffee shop and they serve me a full espresso cup.
H20Dunc......the packets I buy just say Doi Coffee at the top and have a picture of a coffee cup with scenic landscape in the background.
I do realise that espresso coffee machines vary in the coffee they deliver and after laying out the best part of 75,000baht for my machine I had been slightly disappointed in the quality of coffee delivered until now.
Cheers all and here's to you enjoying the perfect cup.

Perhaps I'm the only one who enjoys a good Sambuca with his espresso? In fact I like to pour it right into the espresso at times instead of sipping it separately. It's a perfect after dinner combination IMO as the Sambuca offsets the caffeine and I always sleep like a baby after 3 or 4. Origins: I learned it from the Italian port workers in Newark, New Jersey. Perhaps it's local to that area, I don't know. Recommend you try it though and see what you think. Pete

Crikey Pete, I'd forgotten about that. Sure fine thing after a good meal but I no longer drink coffee in the evening. They go well together. After all when drinking a straight Sambucca one must insert a coffee bean in the top and set fire to it. Blow it out before you slam it though. Seen many a 'tach damaged through ignorance
My mother always had a nip of dark rum in her elevenses coffee. As I drink coffee (very strong ground beans) in the morning, perhaps a bottle of Sambucca is called for to zip it up mate

I have a Neff coffee machine, it is really great. I am a weird coffee drinker In the morning I steam some milk and then put 2 espresso shots of coffee into it...superb! At night after dinner I like an espresso, short. I try not to drink coffee after 9 pm. I like Lavazza also Tesco Columbian beans which are cheaper but just as good. My machine grinds the beans fresh for every cup. I would recommend this method nad these beans too
I drink Bon Cafe beans from a self grinding Saeco machine, but I admit while it is good black, now that I'm retired I frequently add a shot of Irish cream liqueur to a mug for that perfect blend of a wake up drink and also one which mellows out the morning....
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
I have not knowingly tried it. I did see a programme on TV though..put me off a little as it is really is rodent poo I think! They have a diet of coffee beans...it goes through his system...Mmmm...not for me maybe!
I have to put in a plug for my favourite coffee in the world. Not necessarily the below vendor, but the type and where it comes from, especially the peaberry. Pete
