Thai Watsadu--New Boy Toy Store

Post by brianks »

Travel north on main road to Cha Am and across street (on the left) from Holiday Inn (turn off on the right) is the new Thai Watsadu Hardware Store. "Soft" opening a day or two ago this week and looks to be about 90-95% stocked so far. For those of you who are into tools and hardware and just haven't been able to find what you want at Home Pro or anywhere else--THIS IS YOUR PLAYGROUND! Tools and hardware are almost fully stocked and I saw items in there I had been looking for for years and figured BKK would be the answer some day. Example: Not just a few air compressors but probably 20-25 of them in various sizes to chose from. Distilled Battery Water I could fins ONLY at Honda----7 baht a bottle. So many odd ball items used in furniture and cabinets are all here. Long row of any and every kind of drill plus taps and dies. Oh and large selection of lumber and building materials too.

This store is BETTER (and larger) than any Home Depot store in the U.S. that I had seen before moving here 4 years ago. It just blows the socks off Home Pro especially in the price department.

If you have been looking for something, in the "Boy Toy" department, get on your scooter or car and wheel on out there. Took me over an hour to just look through the rows and rows under the enormous roof.

Careful, "Boy Toy" could be construed to be one of those boys downtown who looks like a woman... :D

Seriously though, I'm gonna have to check this place out as I hate HomePro and loved Home Depot in the U.S. Thanks for the heads up!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Yes, should have said Boys Toy Store. Wasn't thinking in the other direction at the time.

Hi Brianks, thanks for the heads up. I am soooo going there today. I've just started getting together some tools etc (after having given away all those I had in Oz a few years ago). I like to build my own furniture, tables, kitchen cabinets etc so am eager to find a decent h/w store.

Is it the BIG blue place on the left with the 'Macro like' car park and all the various brands advertised across the front of the building?

Cheers

Got it thanks. Just back from there, very impressive range of hardware I shall be a frequent visitor. I just hope the paint staff have a few more clues than the Home Pro.

Further than I imagined--10K north of the tunnel
Entering it is an OMG experience
It is HUGE and has NO customers--staff outnumbered me about 20-1
I did set the staff a puzzle and they responded well
I am reminded of the Village store in Lake Woebegone on that great radio show on NPR, Prairie Home Companion, which was a big hit in North America

They had a sign
If we don't have it, you probably don't need it.
