I am on a 90 day Non-Immigrant single entry Visa, which I will need to extend in April on the basis of continuing my studies.
The question I have is this:
The address on my landing card is not the address I am currently staying at, or will be staying at in April when it comes to reporting. Am I supposed to report my new address to immigration immediately, or can I just wait until I extend it, and provide them with my new address at that point?
90 Day Reporting / Change of Address
Re: 90 Day Reporting / Change of Address
The strict answer is that you should do it within 24 hours.
In practice.......
If it were me, I'd leave it until I had to visit Imm "naturally" in the normal course of business. I doubt that Imm are going to come round to your old place in the meantime to check that you're there.
If you want to be a bit more cautious, then go and tell them some time before April as it might look a bit suspicious that you've moved the day before you have to extend.
Remember that Imm might well want to see some rental contract or other evidence that demonstrates you live at the address you state, both for any notification of change of address or for your extension.

Re: 90 Day Reporting / Change of Address
There is actually a form for a change of address that one is supposed to take to the new immi office to report that change of address - Form #28. I was just into my current immi office yesterday and asked for a copy of said form as I have a change of address I am going to make soon and they said they did not have any! Not a single copy to be had and indeed, they acted like they had no idea what it was/never heard of it.
It might have been an act just to get rid of me but I'm not so sure.

Could be tricky. I'm living at my girlfriend's house, so I have no documentation to prove I'm living here! What could I do in this situation?Remember that Imm might well want to see some rental contract or other evidence that demonstrates you live at the address you state, both for any notification of change of address or for your extension.

Get your girlfriend to vouch for you?
If your other paperwork is OK I can't see them getting upset if you say you'll notify them when your address is more permanent.
A crazy rule but there nevertheless. You'll probably be treated like centermid7 and politely sent on your way.

As Lomuamart says, strictly you should report any change of address of more than 24 hours, the form says within 48 hours.
When my wife and I arrived we did the 24 hour reporting bit and both did TM 28, 24 hour reporting and I filled out a TM 30, House Master, where aliens have stay, spooky eh.
Immigration kept the TM 28s and I have the tear off strip of the TM 30 in my passport. on doing 24 hour reporting after a trip, immigration were not bothered with another form but just initialed and dated the back of my TM 30 strip.
Maybe the way to go would be for you to fill in a TM 28 and the GF a TM 30 (I assume she has some form of rental ageement) and you both go to Immigration. At least you will both be seen to be making an effort, prior to your visa extension.

OK thanks for the advice. Will try and arrange a trip to Imm next week

Re: 90 Day Reporting / Change of Address
Odd. I reported my move to Hua Hin last spring and they provided me with the TM.28. The Immigrations officer thanked me for submitting the form, and I still have the bottom part of the form stapled in my passport like a 90-day report.centermid7 wrote:There is actually a form for a change of address that one is supposed to take to the new immi office to report that change of address - Form #28. Is there a "new immi office" here in Hua Hin, again? They've moved a couple times in the past few years. Did they move again?

It's up on the canal road now if that's where you went last time.
