Yes. If you are relying on the income method, there is never any need for it to come to a Thai bank account, whether for the initial visa - O or OA, or extension.
However, Imm always have the right to ask for additional information showing that you are living off overseas income when applying for an extension. In practice, this very rarely happens but I always have my last three UK bank statements with me showing that I regularly draw on money from there through Thai ATMs/banks. I would never present them with my application unless asked for.
You might also need them to show the Canadian Embassy before they issue you with a letter confirming your income. I don't know the process in your instance, but the British Embassy does require proof.

If a person is over 50 they have a valid reason for an O visa (or OA).
In order to retire with annual extensions here, the O or OA visa is necessary first.
I just can't understand why Hull have reused you, BB.
BTW, I've just looked at Hull's website and it's full of holes - http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/downloads-and-visas.aspx
I've only reported it as it was. There was no way that she was going to issue a visa without evidence that I was married to a Thai. As I said, it was only a case of providing the evidence, which was easy for me. I'll watch with interest to see if others hit the same problems.

Just to update on this one. I posted the proof that I was married to a Thai last Friday, and the visa arrived this morning.

Have you got Thai kids BB as that may also have helped.

No, I was simply requesting a Non-Immigrant O visa from Hull to investigate retirement in Thailand. I was told that I could only do this if I was married to a Thai, and had to provide evidence that I was.

BB got his Visa because he's married to a Thai. The retirement does not matter.

He can go for Extension based on Marriage when here or retirement or visa run.

She sounded English. As I said earlier, I had no problem with the way she spoke.

The implication of what was said to me was yes. However, I don't believe she was right. Please let us know how you get on.

Agreed, but I will definitely be going down the extension based on retirement route when the time comes.

And I'm almost certain that if you had applied for an OA in the first place (for retirement) it would not have mattered if you were married to a Thai or not. You only have to meet the age and financial requirements, not have a few very weird diseases (like leprosy) and not be a felon; so Lizzy, if you meet those requirements you should have no problem.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I probably agree with you HHF, but it's forcing people to jump through unnecessary time consuming, expensive hoops to achieve the same goal. These are hoops that many before lizzy or me have not had to jump through.

Spoke to a Dutch couple who arrive here next week on an "O" obtained with the reason "to research retirement".
This was initialy for the end of last year and not used. Things may have changed in Holland this year.
