Buenos Noches Super Jose'

Your wish for a Water Park just outside of Hua Hin is also the Wish of Hua Hin's Major but sanning my News Radar there are no Plans for it even on the Horizon.
Whaat I sh for is a Seaworld Adventure park style Water Park which Combines Education and Entertainemnt with Rides and for small Kids. Florida style crazy golf and a kids play area where they crawl through tunnels and swing on ropes.

We haftea see if the current resession is oveaur the a massive style Water Park is possalbe!

Hi Understudy :thumb:

I expect if they do open a Disney attraction in HH, a Taco Bell concession would fit in just nicely.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

I've been visiting HH for the last 6 or 7 years and I've recomended the place to many people.
Great for Singles. Couples but nothing for kids. that was my opinion.
Some themepark'esk entertainment would be great for biz in HH

With regard to the land owned by TCC mentioned as being earmarked for this project, this is in today’s Bangkok Post:

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) and TCC Property Development of Thai Beverage tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi have agreed to launch a mega tourism project in Phetchaburi.

The 10-year project covering development of 13,335 rai (around 21 square kilometres) of land in Cha-Am district of Phetchaburi will require an investment of around 60 billion baht.

The first phase of the project calls for building of resorts, spas, hotels, a botanical garden and healthcare facilities on 1,366 rai, or around 10 per cent of the land earmarked for development, with an initial investment of 2.4 billion baht, and IEAT and TCC are expected to sign an agreement to that effect within this month.

The next phase will see the building of film studios along the lines of Hollywood, followed by convention and exhibition facilities.

Hua-Hin, as I'm sure you all know is not in Phetchaburi province.

The site for this development is some forty kilometres north of Hua-Hin.

Not so far when it means a day out for everyone - with a beach area far superior to that in Hua-Hin.

@nanyang:

watch
http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-area-map.htm

you will see where Hua Hin ends and Cha-Am in Petchaburi beginn.
The biggest part from the Runway of Hua Hin Airport is in Petchaburi.

Some years ago, my Limodriver from Cha-Am brought me to BKK, and he use from Cha-Am the old road to Petchaburi not Phetchkasem Road . Some km north of Cha-Am, after Cha-Am lagoon, he told me, that all area here is in Hand the Beverage tycoon.
A huge area.

Quite right! In 1932 Hua Hin was part of Pran Buri district. In 1949 Hua Hin was promoted to be a district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

It's very old name(pre 1850's) was Samore Riang (Thai สมอเรียง), which means rows of rock.

I think, if I remember correctly, it got it's present name in the 1920s or there abouts.

The subject has been brought up again, however this time without mentioning a specific location...
Disney Land Park Construction Plot Proposed to Draw Tourists
UPDATE : 20 March 2012

The Association of Thai Travel Agents proposes the government construct a Disney Land Park in Thailand to attract more tourists.

Association of Thai Travel Agents, or ATTA, Chairman Siddiwat Cheewarattanaporn revealed that the ATTA, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and the Thai Hotel Association will be meeting with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra tomorrow at the Government House.

The agenda is to resolve various problems that are affecting the tourism sector. Moreover, it will set campaigns to promote tourism.

Siddiwat said the government expects the tourism sector to generate at least 2.2 trillion baht in revenue within the next three years.

The ATTA will propose a plan to construct new tourist destinations, including a Disney Land Park to attract more Thai and foreign visitors.

Siddiwat pointed out other countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia continue to launch new tourist attractions, adding that amusement parks in Singapore and Hong Kong have gained much popularity among tourists.

He said the ATTA will ask the government to invest in the construction itself or kick off a joint investment program with the private sector, adding that the private sector should be granted investment privileges from the Board of Investment.

The investment cost for the construction of a Disney Land Park is estimated at 20 billion baht.

I also read that article. I pray to all possible gods this will not come true. We all want the value of our properties to increase and Hua Hin to improve, flourish and develop, but not in this way! Enough with americanization! Maintain the Thai lifestyle as much as possible, that is what attract tourists from foreign countries. Try to establish political stability, keep the country and the beaches tidy, fight the flooding threat with effective measures - that is the recipe for a boosting tourist industry. I can´t for my life imagine that farang families choose Thailand as their holiday destination just because there is a Disneyland here. All the kids from farang families from chilly Europe want, and long for, is to spend their time on the beach or in some nice pool under the hot sun. A Disneyland in Thailand would primarily be aimed for the Thai market.
If - god forbid - Disney Corp approve and some business consortium decide to invest, locate it nearer Bangkok, or why not just north of Cha-Am, where there is a large concentration of Thai families on holidays.

I would not worry about thhis old chestnut

Hua Hin does not have the transport links to effectively ship in and ship out, the thousands of persons / day.
