Quick question Lomuamart. I am building up 800K here, nearly there, they will waive the bedding in time for a fee.
Can I get the retirement visa purely on savings in the UK?

Diplomacy is the ability to tell a man to go to hell so that he looks forward to making the trip

Afraid I've got no idea if a greasing of palms might do the trick. Unfortunately, strictly speaking, the answer should be no. I appreciate that you don't want to do another 90 day border run, but if you can't season the money in time, maybe that's the best option in the long run?
The 800K has to be in a Thai bank account, so UK savings don't count.
However, you can apply on the basis of a combination of savings and income if that helps. The total for the year must come to 800K. So, for instance, 400K savings in a Thai bank account and Embassy confirmed overseas income of 33,334K a month. Strictly speaking, if you could go the combination route, the 400K dosn't have to be seasoned either. There's no mention of 2 or 3 months in the relevant Police Order for that situation. Imm may not buy it though but it's what the Order states.
If you think the combination route is a possibility, let me know and I'll see if I can dig out the relevant wording - probably tomorrow.

JG,
I can't copy/paste the current Police Order regarding combination of income and savings due to the format it's in.
However, it's clause 2.22 of the 25/11/08 version which is still current today.
In that clause, it sets out the requirements for the 800K savings - Thai bank account, must have been in there for 60 days before first application and 3 months for subsequent ones. Nothing new or anything that you won't be aware of.
If you use the combination method, the wording of the next paragraph is as follows, verbatim:
"Must have an annual earning and funds deposited with a bank totaling no less than Baht 800,000 as of the filing date".
That's it. No mention of any seasoning period for the savings.
So, if you've already tucked some money away in a Thai bank and have income back in the UK (or anywhere offshore from here) and you can combine the two to total 800K over a year then you should be OK with the retirement extension in April.
Just remember that you'll need some documentation to prove your income to satisfy The Brit Embassy and get a letter from them confirming that income. I see no reason why HH Imm should be difficult with the seasoning of any savings here - the Police Order is clear and straightforward - but you never know. Go as far in advance as possible of your current 90 day stay expiring. If they say "no" then you've got time to do the dreaded border run. If you need anything from the UK, best to get onto it asap.
Good luck.

There are ways around the income/savings requirements if you have had a bad year, no way to document income, or the money has not been in the Thai account long enough.
