Motorcade in Hua Hin

Post by kendo »

Sunday last week we were returning from the fishing lodge and the police were stopping the traffic at the City Beach cross roads after 5, minutes 2, unmarked police cars came racing through followed by 10, marked police cars, 5 cream colored Honda saloon cars, and then another 5 marked police cars.

It was quite impressive to see this motorcade racing north on the PK road did anyone else see this I guess it was royal family or high ranking government officials.

I'm pretty sure I saw the same - cream coloured sedans and plenty of highway police and regular ones as well.
The whole cavalcade was parked up at The Hai Pieng restaurant just north of the town centre. I glanced in as walking by and the VIPs were either big time army or police.
I didn't chance walking in and asking them their occupation!!

A totally unnecessary bloody nuisance that happens far too frequently and is nothing more than a cock-of-the-roost display for self-important, over-inflated egos! :cuss:

Yep, happens all the time. The police boss's wife goes shopping.

So, what else is new?

Haven't seen one for a while, but a few years back I saw a huge motorcade of those cream colored vehicles, mercs, limos, 4WDS, and an ambulance - painted cream color as well. I guess it actually was someone REALLY important!

Cream coloured cars are part of the royal fleet. During the time when the king and others of the royal family lived here up to a couple of years ago, they were a regular happening every week. I used to live in what is now the 'Sunset Boulevard' in Takiab. The prince used to eat regularly at the Pom Pom restaurant close by. The police used my place to relax and chat with a few beers while they were waiting. (Couldn't get a take-away like everyone else!!!!).

Not seen so much over the last 2 or 3 years but used to be a regular occurrance.

If it was in the USA or Canada it would simply be a police donut run.

That happens in BKK quite frequently. It used to be that when the princess used to drive herself to Pattaya there were the police escort fore and aft but at a respectful distance.
The sign that it is coming is the blocking of side sois.
