New on the Scene

Post by phartley58 »

Hi there,

Just to introduce myself, I'm Peter and my wife is Carol. We are both Brits and our house on Smart House Valley at the end of Soi 88 should be finished in a couple of weeks.

We're both social animals and hope to meet many of you on our travels around the town.

Carol will be in Hua Hin permanantly and I will be there for 3 weeks out of every 12 due to my job.

Question: Does anyone know if or when shuttle flights between Bangkok and Hua Hin may be starting again? I was led to believe they did used to do them but stopped for some reason!

Hi Peter,

Welcome to the forum. Regarding the shuttle, as far as I know there are no plans to restart it soon. However, this is Thailand, and anything can happen in the next 30 minutes.

Hi and welcome
There has just been a thread on here that they have found an agent orange dump at the Hua Hin airport so i guess it won't be opening anytime soon.

Hi Peter,

Welcome to Hua Hin.
In regards to your question of BKK-HH flights, I guess this is to avoid having someone to drive you to and from the airport every few weeks?
I was looking at this too, however since the flights are cancelled someone suggested me to take a minibus at the railway station. The comfort seems to be OK, price below 200Bht/one way, and departure every hour.

I did not use these services yet, so it's just from what a local told me as a good alternative commute.

Hope this helps.

Tzen Tse,

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. So, if I've understood you correctly, a minibus leaves BKK station every hour to go to Hua Hin and is 200Bht.

Having asked that, my company pay for transport to and from my place of work to my front door so I'll probably carry on using a taxi so I can relax. It would have been more convenient if there were shuttle flight, that's all.

But thanks anyway mate....................

Hello Peter & Carol.
Welcome to the forum
All the best to you both, for your future in Hua Hin.
I do believe that we already met, in Home Pro, lurking in the bathroom section.
I think I gave my number the offer still stands for a brew or a beer when you are settled.
Cheers Paderborn

You will be if you take any of those minibuses.
Most of the drivers have to make several return trips (I've heard of up to 4 or 5 per day).
They drive like lunatics and the THB200 is a cheap coffin....................

Find a reliable taxi to take you - price - between THB1500 and THB2500 each way

Depends on the vehicle and the driver - they will also give a receipt if asked.

Thanks Terry, I'll will stick to the taxi service. However, I would appreciate any contacts you have for that price. (Even though my company pay.)

Paderborn, yes it is I. Carol is over there now and I'll be coming over at the beginning of July for 3 weeks. I also still have your number in my Thai phone. Why PADERBORN by the way. It's one of my favourite beers from my days in Germany
