Where to buy a kayak or SUP board
Re: Where to buy a kayak or SUP board
Why don't you try and barter with the guy with used one?

There is a whole range of those type at Thai Watsadu, on the way to Cha Am. They are heavy looking canoes, rather than Kayaks. Price just under 7,000 Baht.STEVE G wrote:I've seen less fancy versions of those things for sale at those huge places on the way down from Bangkok that sell everything made out of moulded plastic like ice boxes, barrels and canal punts. I don't know what they charge for them but I would've thought it's a lot less than those prices above. They look the same but are just a bare moulding without any fittings and it would certainly do the job unless you're a serious canoeist.

Thought about it but anyone that wants almost the new price for something used isn't likely to come down in my experience!PBbeacher wrote:Why don't you try and barter with the guy with used one?
That seems more in my price range, will check them out.Nereus wrote:There is a whole range of those type at Thai Watsadu, on the way to Cha Am. They are heavy looking canoes, rather than Kayaks. Price just under 7,000 Baht

Yes, I would get one myself for that price. I know that you used to be able to get a small moulded plastic rowing boat for 4,000 bt from those type of places so a ride on canoe shouldn't be all that expensive.
A few years ago they used to sell the imported ones upstairs in Market Village and I remember thinking that the price was silly for a bit of moulded plastic.

Re: Where to buy a kayak or SUP board
Just before the traffic lights at Tha Yang, on the left side of the road going north, there is a place that has those plastic / poly boats. Mixed up with them is a yellow item that appears to be a Kayak, a couple of metres long. I would have stopped and had a closer look for you, but by the time I spotted it I was in the wrong lane surrounded by other traffic.
There is a poster on here occasionally that lives around there, but I cannot recall his name. If I am passing by again soon I will stop and have a closer look if you want.

Cheers, just grab the number of the shop if you can, we'll call them and see what it is.Nereus wrote:If I am passing by again soon I will stop and have a closer look if you want.
The SUP boards are also good fun but finding a used one that doesn't cost the same as a new one is nay easy!

If you're anything like me with beach activities, just lie them on the sand next to it, pull up a deck chair and open a bottle of something!Just need to figure out how to attach the fishing rod and esky now ...
