Could anyone help to advise me what is the weight in grammes of one Thai baht please? Just a rough idea would be helpful.
I have a chain which weighs approximately 25 grammes and I want to make sure when I sell it, the shop doesn't cheat me.

Answer from Wikipedia:
The baht is a unit of weight for gold, commonly used by jewellers and goldsmiths in Thailand. One baht = 15.244 grams. Since the standard purity of Thai gold is 96.5%, the actual gold content in one baht is 15.244 × 0.965 = 14.71046 grams, or about 0.4729523 troy ounce. 15.244 grams is used for "raw" gold or bullion; in the case of jewellery, 1 baht should be more than 15.16 grams.

Highly unlikely that they will try and cheat you. It is one of the few industries in Thailand where the regulations are enforced and followed. The price is set daily by the Gold Traders Association and it is not in the interest of any dealer to cheat with either the value, or the weight.thebears wrote:Could anyone help to advise me what is the weight in grammes of one Thai baht please? If you are that uncertain about selling gold I can only assume you have not been here long. This is in no way meant to be an attack on your person but the selling of gold, and the buying of gold happens more frequently than putting money in the bank in Thailand. You don't get stitched up, you don't get lesser deals - gold is gold. If I had a good whack of money I would certainly be buying it. You don't find many banks that will triple your money over 10 years.I have a chain which weighs approximately 25 grammes and I want to make sure when I sell it, the shop doesn't cheat me.
As you seem to be unsure about the gold market I'll ask a stupid question... It is 'Thai' gold you are wishing to sell isn't it? If it's the stuff we get from other countries they will turn their nose up at it... the same with roles reversed.
