Brunch challenge? Now theres an idea DM which we will work on.

Calves liver with sticky bacon and onion gravy with champ or colcannon mmmmmmmmm :D

Fried liver sausage you need slicing sausage not spreading. Tulip brand in a tin is as close as we have found in HH. Cut into 4 slices and fry in the bacon fat before picking up with fried bread and dipping into egg yolk and HP sauce :thumb:

Or colcannon with home made corned beef and cabbage - that would get us back to Naab Thong again very quickly.

Had to look up colcannon...

Purely in the interests of research I have been doing a little exploration on the internet:

Of course, you would need to do a considerable amount of experimentation before you got the right combination. I would like to offer my not inconsiderable expertise, just to help out you understand...

I can't really comment on what is and what is not a traditional English breakfast, and I'm not even sure if it's the same or similar to a Scottish breakfast, but during my ten years in Scotland, a traditional breakfast seemed to be..................

Toast
Fried eggs/scrambled eggs, omelet
Bacon
Fried tomato
Mushrooms
Black pudding
Baked beans
Coffee

A traditional South African breakfast is basically the same, but without the black pudding. Usually there will also be a porridge served beforehand as well, although nowadays most choose the easy option and use cereals instead.

As for mixed grills................these are usually served in most restaurants and are available throughout the day. There used to be a place on the opposite side of he road to the Hilton that did a good mixed grill, but that was about 8 years ago, so I'm not sure if the place is still there.

Back to Mixed Grills please ladies and gentlemen!
English breakfasts, Scottish breakfasts, South African breakfasts are not in the slightest relevant to this so very important question - do we want a Naab Thong Mixed Grill or don't we?
Are you all so young you can't remember such a wonderful. sadly now so retro a dish?
Mind you I do applaud Naab Thong's offer of a Calves liver, Bacon & Mash dish as at least a step in the right direction! :thumb: :thumb:
Sod the colcannon! :butt: :butt:

Well I've been now a couple of times and it has all been excellent. I will go with whatever they have to offer or recommend. So far I've focused on their Thai mains and of course 'pea soup'. If I want a fry up breakfast or a mixed grill I'd probably be looking at a farang orientated cafe/restaurant

And where would you recommend for a mixed grill?

I was just watching one of those cooking programs (Celebrity Chef or some such) and have to ask a question.
There was an English gentlelady (you know the type - stern, chiseled features, Dowager type) who when asked what she thought of a contender's dish replied "exquisite - the taste exploded in my mouth like an angel's fart".
My question is, which dish would you nominate from the Naab Thong menu to elicit the same response should she grace your esteemed premises?

The lady in question sounds like Dame Edna or Ann Widdercombe

The dish to replicate the above has to be the pea soup

Definitely not Dame Edna or Madge!

Is this this the same Ann Widdercombe who is quoted as saying:
"Miss Widdecombe observed a typical British night out for a BBC Radio 5 Live documentary about attitudes to alcohol. She described seeing women “stagger along pavements in 6in heels, scantily clad, falling off the kerbs, to hail taxis in which they are sick”". ?
If it is then which of the Naab Thong clientele might she now perhaps be referring to - scantily clad women or perhaps, given Hua Hin's libertine attitude, scantily clad men?

In any event pea soup hardly evokes the concept of an angel farting, now does it?
