Hello all,

I am the son of JeffS and to MEGS/MARG as stated previously the money which he had in the safe was mine which I had asked for him to exchange for me while the rate was good on my behalf. My dad has travelled to Thailand many times in the past 5 years and has stayed at the hotel in question majority of those times. It is not uncommon for people to carry this amount of money ($3000) as I and my friends also bring their cash along with them on our travels to Thailand. I have no doubt that someone took the money, my dad is very good with making sure money is accounted for. In relation to your comment 'dont carry money you cant afford to lose', it is money we can afford to lose but that doesnt mean we should just leave it to be raided by scoundrels.

To suggest that his partner be questioned is baffling. He has been with her a long time and looks after her enough that if she wanted anything all she would need to do is ask.

To the bloke suggesting post count means anything, why would you or any other of your 'respected' members of this community have any more knowledge of this situation than the people in question? Mr Rahul Gupta is the manager of a hotel. Do you really think he needs access codes from who knows where to look at his own camera footage? My dad and his mates are waiting on some sort of proof he has contacted the police and has any footage from the CCTV camera at the time in question. Do you really think it should have taken this long to get back to them if he really wanted to find out what happened? You are disputing who stole the money. That's not what my dad and others are trying to achieve. They're just fingering a thief so people can get the word out to be mindful of their money anywhere the thief ends up working.

Like Aussiemark stated

Bring on the Karma

Wherever Mr. Rahul Gupta goes I hope a reputation goes with him. Scumbag. Put a thai in charge! In my eyes and I'm sure a lot of others, this would sit a lot better than seeing Mr. Gupta at the head of operations.

@Grim Reaper, THANKS! I am glad that you are stepping in. I agree and this "mud slinging" is sounding more like a political campaign than an Expat Forum. It is helpful that people are candid, but when it starts getting personal, defensive or abusive, and off of topic, it is time to close the tread IMHO. As a"newbie" I have seen myself withdraw from the Forum when we start getting too many of these negative and abusive post. No offense to any one but I agree with margaretcarnes...'If'n ya cain't say nuth'n nice, don't say nuth'n at all'. I will do my best to heed this and my own advise. Sun and Fun

To the bloke suggesting post count means anything,
I never suggested post count means anything. I said that, because there was a low post count, I was able to read through them all. Something I obviously wouldn't do if the person had hundreds of posts.

Whatever happened, a significant amount of money went missing which is just horrible.

My point exactly Sunandfun. Margaret had nothing nice to say and found the topic 'farcical'. Why choose to force her opinion on us all, when all we are doing is alerting everyone as to what occured. As I have stated previously, the money is long gone, but please believe me when I tell you that this really did happen!

@JeffS...Thanks for the alert! Sometimes we can't see the trees for the forest. Totally missed the message and then started shooting at the messenger. Please know you have now been heard. Good luck on any follow up, understanding that, was not your point.

Thanks Sunandfun, happy to know that someone out there can see where we are at with this! Just to add, I am sure that Gupta is tracking where this commentary is going, but the silence both here and at my E-mail is absolutely deafening! R U there RAHUL! R 4 Raid, A 4 And, H 4 Hope, U 4 U, & L 4 Leave! :duck:

Thanks Mark, appreciate that. Back in Hua Hin myself at the back end of July. Leave it to me. Love to see the police report or some of the CCTV but do not fancy my chances! :banghead: I'll make sure I don't book in at the Aspen Suites! :D

These kind of threads are extremely helpful. It emphasizes the importance of being a little bit careful when you're in a foreign land.
