Do I need the wife for embassy visit?

Post by Don East Stand »

Hi,

Can anyone please help. I'm going to the British Embassy in Bangkok tomorrow to get the bits and pieces needed for my Non-Immigrant "O' Visa extension.

My wife is a farang, same as me, and she "piggybacks" on my visa.

The question is does she have to come with me to the Embassy in Bangkok?

Once again any help, much appreciated!

I'm not 100% sure about this as havn't been through it myself, but she isn't going to need an income letter as she's piggybacking on your's.
However, you're going to have to prove to Imm that you're married de facto and de jure. I don't know if Imm need any document from the Embassy confirming this. You'll certainly need your marriage certificate in HH but beyond that?????
I think some other members have been through this so hopefully they'll be able to give you more detailed information.

I hope someone can give you the info you want, but I have to say (with the greatest respect, Don  ) that the subject matter of this thread in no way lives up to the the title!

Can't say anymore than that, as the wife knows my handle on this forum................... :duck: :run:

I have to agree. I also was disappointed with the "lap swimming " thread, which I thought was going to be about an aquatic form of exotic dancing!

I am sure your wife does not need to go as well as you. I always go along too as we are in Bangkok (shopping) but there is never anything I need to sign or do. One thing the HH immigration seems to be asking for now is Affirmation of your marriage certificate! This is new but a few of us have been asked for it as they do not like the wording Certified Copy on a UK marriage certificate. All you need to take with you is your marriage certificate, then fill in a form - again I was not needed for any part of the process.
