Anyone know how to "Root" a phone

Post by Theo »

I have an HTC One X and have downloaded a program I want to use. For it to work my phone needs to have the boot loader unlocked and the phone rooted. I have downloaded the detailed instructions on how to do it but it's more than I'm comfortable tackling. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm more than happy to donate to someone's beer fund if they can help  . Please PM me and I'll send you the link with the instructions for you to take a look at. Cheers

The easiest method which works with most phones is Super OneClick Just install the application on your pc. Connect phone to pc, and run the application.

Did have a look at this myself previously, but for me I'm going to stick as is until I have a tad more experience!!

For tips on what to do, I would say BaaBaa is the guru on this forum.

I've only done the almost unbrickable S2, HTCs are notoriously difficult to root in comparison to Samsung.

This is the Bible though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/

Samsungs are laughably easy PH, just Google Chainfire root. Once that's done, flashing new roms etc is simple too.

Thanks for the replies, referral and links. I really don't want to try it myself as its outside my comfort zone when in comes to phones, computers and programming. Appreciate hearing from anyone else who might have had experience with the HTC and is interested in looking at the detailed instructions for rooting the HTC One X. Cheers

I'll give it a go for you if you like. Not taking responsibility if anything goes wrong though (shouldn't do really, there seem to be no reports of phones being bricked on the websites I've looked at)
