A fast-paced bike ride called the Hua Hin Alleycat will be taking place in Thailand's Prachuap Khiri Khan province on June 2nd 2012.
Sponsored by K-Trade International and TSY Cycle Boutique, the underground courier-style race will be free to enter and welcomes all sorts of competitors, riding any type of bike.
Described by organisers as an event for "mashers, trickers and hipsters", the race begins at 21:00 local time at the Pone Kingpetch public park at Amphoe Hua Hin and will see racers competing for a selection of prizes.
Alleycat races of this kind have their roots in Canada around two decades ago and have since become popular worldwide, with the emphasis being on the fun of taking part, rather than the competitive element.
Those involved will also be presented with free spoke cards to commemorate their participation in the race.
Organisers have stated that the final route and additional details will be announced on the night, only ten minutes before the beginning of the race itself.

Where is "Pone Kingpetch public park"? Is this the place where they have that statue of a Thai boxer?

Cheers Buksi..............should be fun after a few beers.....lol. At least if my muscles are aching afterwards, there'll be plenty of massage shops nearby.

Well, it was fun, but it was also darn hard since it's the first exercise I've had in the last 10 years or so.
The race started at Pone Kingpetch public park and from there it was off the the first check point which was at a bike shop along the road that heads out towards the Fishing Lodge. After checking in there, it was back into town and down to the 2nd check point at the fishing pier, then onto the 3rd check point at the Sofitel before making our way to the 4th check point just past Cicada Market in Takiap.
Then came the shock............the 5th and final check point was on top of Monkey Mountain.
I can't believe some guys actually managed to pedal up that hill when even my Honda Wave takes strain going up there. Anyway, coming down was a pleasure, as was all the cold beer that was waiting for us.
All in all, a nice evening and I hope it becomes a regular Hua-Hin event.
