TAT collaborates with 10 organisations to promote tourism

Post by buksida »

BANGKOK, 5 June 2012 (NNT) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is collaborating with 10 other organizations to promote better tourism standards in Thailand.

TAT Product Promotion Department Director Mrs. Benjawan Sunetworakul said the TAT has signed a memorandum of understanding with 10 relevant organizations to raise the standards of Thai tourism for foreign tourists.

Among the 10 organizations are the Airports of Thailand, the Immigration Bureau, the Tourist Police Division, the Revenue Department and the Thai Hotel Association. A seminar entitled ‘Smile Host’ has also been held as part of a joint effort to teach people in the tourism industry on how to be a good host and hone their language skills.

The seminar was divided into two sessions, one for AoT executives and the other for transport company employees who work at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Mrs. Benjawan said this move will create a long-lasting impression on tourists and make them want to revisit Thailand.

Thought: I can definitely see the immigration bureau 'hosting a smile' as they dish out more fines to foreigners for minor misdemeanors. :lach:

'Smile Host'..??
We all know the Thai-Smile is only visible when the participant is about to, plans to, has full intention of..relieving the Tourist of some Baht..be it a direct sale in the market or aiming for that big tip when the visitor leaves.
It seems the TAT launch a new campaign/strategy each year. IMO this is more towards jobs-for-the-boys, rather than addressing the same annual complaints they receive..(how many years now has Swampy-Immigration had a poor record ?.. some things just don't improve here).

As for 'Tourist Police'...In Pattaya they're patrolling the streets nightly, their presence visible to all in case of need..much like HH, err NOT!!
