90 day reporting at Hua Hin Immigration Office
90 day reporting at Hua Hin Immigration Office
Having read a number of posts regarding the difficulties encountered at the Immigration Office in Hua Hin, I thought I would report that I went there today at about 11.30am for my 90 day reporting procedure. Was in and out in less than 5 minutes.
Well done Hua Hin Immigration.

90 days reporting isn't a problem. It's all the other hoops, especially when a mass of paperwork is involved that is the interesting fish for the crew

Too bloody true - when you have your own business and you extend your type 'B' for a year.JimmyGreaves wrote:90 days reporting isn't a problem. It's all the other hoops, especially when a mass of paperwork is involved that is the interesting fish for the crew
Anyway - this year's fiasco was completed a couple of weeks ago.

Re: 90 day reporting at Hua Hin Immigration Office
I just went for my 90 day reporting and it was also my first trip to the HH Immi office. Took me about 20 minutes.
No surprise that it is a real mess. I think every office is about the same. No focus on what there are doing, easily distracted by what is going on at another desk, food on every desk. The queue means nothing 'cause whenever one of the "agents" comes in they go straightaway to a desk and have their business taken care of. After about 15 minutes of waiting one of the ladies could see me with my 90 day paper and she called me forward. She took one peek at my old 90 day receipt and started talking loudly about "overstay". I gently showed her my exit and entrance stamps that precluded any chance of an overstay. She sighed and granted me my new receipt but I know she was disappointed as she thought she was going to be drinking the good scotch that evening.
Not to worry . . I had the good scotch for her!

Just to balance it up, I like Bernard have been in and out within 5 minutes, although if you hit peak time (typically early morning on a Monday) it will take longer. I do also appreciate what Centermid7 said about "Agents" bypassing the queuing system, although the ticket numbering machine should deal with everybody else on a first come, first served basis.

I'm not sure, but just maybe the immigration police get a bonus if they get an 'overstay'
For sure they get very animated about it.
In more than twenty years I have never 'overstayed' on a visa - nor will I - and I have witnessed quite a few 'knabbings' at immigration desks.
I was even subject to a 'phantom overstay' on my last trip back.
I do a lot of consultancy work in S.E.Asia (Currently in Hanoi) - whilst maintaining a type 'B' visa and work permit in Thailand, for the Fishing Lodge.
My last 'Type B' required extension on 7th June 2012
I returned well beforehand and provided all the necessary papers for it, but because I had been in and out of Thailand so many times last year, my passport entry and exit stamps 'needed verification' by immigration in Bangkok.............................
I got a 30 day 'consideration' stamp.
I returned for a lightning visit on 05 July to ensure my extension stamp for this coming year - duly stamped on 06 July
I flew back here to Hanoi on Sunday 08 July
Whilst exiting through Swampy immigration the very astute officer started jumping up and down and almost yelling 'overstay, overstay, overstay' at me. Follow me he screamed - you must pay THB 1,000.
I politely smiled, retrieved my passport from his clasp and pointed to the new extension that he had not seen.
He was gutted - as though he had lost his Christmas Bonus..............

Re-entering Thailand before 90 days reporting
Got a question for you guys related to that 90 days reporting, nobody at immigration could answer me clearly :
So I am living in HH with a 1 year non-immigrant visa, I travel abroad about every couple of months and therefore I never really complete a full 90 days stay at a time.
I was told that whenever I return to Thailand I must report within 24h to HH immigration to update my 90 days slip.
On the few wads of paper attached to my passport it states something like "failure to do so will face penalty & fine 5.000 + 200 /day etc". On a few occasions I was late like 1-2 days, immigration did not mention anything, no problem.
Anyway my question is do I really have to report myself again & again at HH immigration every time I re-enter Thailand, like 6 times a year?
Afterall I just got an entry stamp at airport, so why the double process?
I find it greatly inconvenient to have to drag myslef immediately to HH immigration everytime I return home HH.
I mean the day after a 15h flight from Europa I would rather sleep all day or stay home to recover from jet-lag...
Or what if I just want to stay in BKK for a few days before getting home HH, I cant believe I am legally forced to return & report at HH at once...
How you guys handle this? please tell me I got it wrong all this time...

Re: Re-entering Thailand before 90 days reporting
I am just coming up to my first anniversary on an O-A visa so have limited experience, but as you suggested and I have experienced, that if you report within a day or two nobody is going to say anything, but you might be tempting fate if you left it a couple of weeks - hopefully you will here from others who have more experience?Petrus wrote:Got a question for you guys related to that 90 days reporting, nobody at immigration could answer me clearly :

Re: 90 day reporting at Hua Hin Immigration Office
I never made a 24h reporting, when I was 5 times outside Thailand (with multiple-entry permit) last year and I had no problems at 90 day reporting or 1 year extension. But as TIT, you might perhaps get penalized, because the officer needs some tea money.
Re: 90 day reporting at Hua Hin Immigration Office
Immigration were very specific when I was there yesterday to point out that I MUST report within 24 hours of returning from my upcoming trip to Laos.
Re: 90 day reporting at Hua Hin Immigration Office
24 hours? Bollocks
I have been told three times now by immigration officers that a week or 10 days is OK

Re: 90 day reporting at Hua Hin Immigration Office
This 90-day requirement has come many times previously. Even if it is a requirement it has nothing to do with 90 day reporting. The 90 days start from the day you are stamped into the country, and if you leave before that time there is no requirement to report. You have not been here 90 days, so even Immigration has no come back on you.Petrus wrote:..................So I am living in HH with a 1 year non-immigrant visa, I travel abroad about every couple of months and therefore I never really complete a full 90 days stay at a time.
It has also been reported that if you leave the province, even overnight, that you are required to report to Immigration upon your return. The legal advice that I was given is that both of these requirements apply to migrant workers from Asian countries, and does NOT apply to holders of non O visas.
If you do not tell them, how are they to know?????? Do they place a stamp in your Passport? I don’t think so. I stay mostly in Bangkok and are back and forth regularly to Hua Hin, and occasionally overseas and I have never reported 24 hours, and have no intention of doing so. Every year I renew my permitted to stay on retirement basis and have never been questioned about it, and along with the renewal I always obtain a re-entry permit, which if used SHOULD tell them that you have been away!
There is enough hoops to jump through without doing something unnecessary, particularly when Immigration can not give you a definitive answer.

May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
Re: 90 day reporting at Hua Hin Immigration Office
Never done the 24 hours and don't intend to start, they don't need to know where I slept last night - 90 days is enough checking up on the aliens. Its pretty painless though, you don't even have to go in person.

Agree with Nereus and Buksi
Never have done and never will do - as long as I don't complete a 90 day stint in territory.
When I HAVE done 90 days in territory then I go and report as required by law
The 24 hr thing is a load of borrox!
