Post by georgecoll »

Hi all. I'm on gold package true vision payed up till August. Now after the upgrade I've found because I have the old box I can only receive Thai channels. The guy in the shop said I would have to rent new hd box (500bht) month or other option was buy a box from Tesco or other electrical store for 4000bht. reluctant to pay 500 bht per month but not too convinced about box from Tesco . Can anyone give me any advice, cheers George

Think you can buy a new HD box from True Vision - that would be the safe way. :)

update
went to true vision desk Tesco Pranburi this morning 0900hrs
girl said dont open until 1000hrs
placed head in hands elbows on desk
she asked why we dont go home and come back
told her I had no TV and watching them working was as good as it got :D :D :D
She immediately switched to my good lady yatter yatter and paperwork was produced and duly signed
we pay 2,000bt deposit on new box (when fitted) and we get one month free gold package plus the number of days we have lost this month
told man MAY come today (he did not) but definitely tommorrow (I will see)

it seems to me this is a case of noone in the true vision setup had the vision to inform the staff

It was the same when I have waited for a train for 8 hours in Calcutta, and we ask the conductor
when the train would arrive for the tens time and he answered:

" Maybee tomorrow , maybee the day after tomorrow" and smiled at us, and went away.

OK OK they quickly got to grips with the old :guns: dream box guys. I posted Monday mine still worked although channels all mixed up. Come Monday night I'm watching a dwarf, ladyboy, a guy in a bright jacket with all sorts of back ground noises.....

:banghead: Bit the bullet and went to the True shop on Kang Klong by the market... quite painless and say they will fit tomorrow with 1 month free even though I was a pirate
Thats me Im on my way to luxury

Success!!! As a western woman of a certain age thought this change of system was one more enormous hurdle to cross. Went this morning to shop by market in Hua Hin. Paid 3,959bt. and was handed a new box. A guy in shop checked it worked and then I was given a quick lesson in how to install the thing myself.
Less than 30mins later I am home with a fully working system. Like everyone I begrudge paying for something that should be given for free but at least I have something that is a bit more"state of the art" than my old box. Now what is the next challenge......

^

You see it's not all doom and gloom. Glad it all worked out for you :D .

Until recently, I had been ripping off all the True Visions channels for the princely sum of 200 baht a month but...True changed it all the buggers. Now all I get on my Dreambox is a couple of sports channels, a movie channel and Fox  . The Dreambox is still a great little deal for Thai's though as there's a crap load of Thai channels of all sorts still on there.

Ho Hum... if no better deal comes out before the new season starts I will have to bite my lip and reluctantly use the 5 star (priced) service that is True Visions.

Aye, there's the rub...
I can't remember, but probably not all - and I have the same requirement!
I'm going to give my DB man a chance to come up with something, as there's a few weeks grace.
If not, it's back to TrueRipOffs, cap in hand.

Same here, keep me informed as I'm also on the trail with many others :D Will let you know if anything materialises this end. Astro is one option but maybe not the solution.
