Looking for a Company to Install a Home Wireless Network

Post by pmoondust »

Hi All,

Looking for a little help please.

I'm trying to set up a home wireless network and I'm having a very hard time doing it. (Routers, Access Points, Rang Extenders, multiple computers both WIN and MAC systems, wireless shared printers)

I've been looking for a local company in Hua Hin that’s able to set all this up but I haven’t been able to find one.

Does anyone know of a good company / shop that can do all this in Hua Hin?

Thanks for the help!
:)

How big is your house? One single wireless router should be enough for most places!

Pleng,

The house is not that big but it's a bit long and the walls are thick so the 150 Mbps 2.4 ghz router with an extra long antenna still cannot reach my office area.

I had to install an extra router due to having inadvertantly constructed a good impression of a faraday cage in the room i wanted it. The easiest solution was to run a cat5 cable from the original router into the roof space and then down into the room that required the second box. setup the second box with DHCP disabled, change the IP number of the box and voila !

hint. things usually work a lot easier if you get the same box for both routers. routers these days can all be configured as access points, bridges, repeaters etc, so there is no need to look for specific types - which are less flexible and can cost more money !

The Repeater mode extends wireless coverage to cover all "dead" spots.

BARRYs,

I was trying to install a access point and configure it as a repeater-extender but I need to set up a stactic IP addres, share out a few external drives and printer and thats all out of my tech skill range.

Fft100,

Since I'm renting I can't drill any holes in the ceiling and run a cable. (it would have been the best option wish I could.

"Farang cage" I like that.... It is my own little home away from home room. A little place I can go to get away from it all ;)

You could try homeplugs to achieve the same thing, they use the power lines to carry the data. They're not cheap though, and not sure if you can get them in Hua Hin (I got mine in Panthip)
