I've spent my last couple of holidays living in Soi 88. I enjoyed it so much that I've now bought a house there, and live there full time. I've never had a problem.

Where on Soi 88? Where I live, I can walk to the beach in under 10 minutes. Where I rented, I could be on the beach in 5 minutes. The centre of Hua Hin/Market village is only 10 minutes walk away. Restaurants in the area are only half the price of what you would pay in central Hua Hin.

Regarding price, it obviously depends on what you're buying. If it's a 2 bedroomed townhouse, you're being ripped off. If it's a fully furnished 6 bedroomed house with 50 mtr swimming pool, you've probably got a bargain.

And yes, electricity does reach this far, and we have streetlights :D

Soi 88 Is between 800 m to 8800m from the beach, it is well lit and busy. It is also dark and scary. Houses vary between > 1mb to 30mb so is it good value?

Make sure to use a good lawyer for any property transaction, Chavalit Finch come highly recommended.

We have lived just off Soi 88 for nearly 6 years now. Yes I would say it is a safe although parts can be very dark late at night. For us it is a five minute drive to virtually anywhere we want to go. Whereabouts on 88 are you looking? There are actually 2 Soi 88s which does confuse at time - the road splits just after the railway crossing and both roads are called Soi 88.

we are at top of soi 88 at orchid palm, if you can get one for 5 mill you are getting a bargain, and I will be round to the builder demanding a refund.

We just went to the land office with the seller. We got the channot, and them gave them a bag full of one thousand baht notes. Our only expense was half of the transfer fee, and 2000 baht for "express" service.

Hi tuppence, he wont be selling one for 5 mil, promise you that! I think a resale went for 5.5 last year but it was a very keen owner needing to sell.

BB : Where do you access the beach ?

I stayed in 88 a few years ago and may do in the future as I own a house there but I used to walk all the way to the small soi where Verandah Lodge is, Soi 67 I think. Is there a closer public access road ?

When we were staying opposite Bon Kai Market, I used to walk to Power Buy, turn right, over the bridge (yes, I'm the ONE who uses it), and there's a little cutting just after that. Looking on the Hua Hin map, it's either Soi 71, or the one with no name just after that.

The turning to the beach is just as you get to Market Village on the other side of the road.

A sound idea. Make sure you've looked at it at all times of the day and night, just to make sure somebody doesn't start playing very loud music at 3 am or whatever.

OK BB I know that one, alongside White House Hotel and leads directly to Richards Bar where I have been going for 8 years or so.

But I presume now your house is over the railway lines, can you really walk it in under 10 mins ?

I was hoping you had a shortcut I didn't know about.

The entrance by Verandah is closer if you can cross the road before the foot bridge.

I would say easily less than 10 minutes, and I'm old and fat.

I'm not having it BB. You cannot walk out of your front door and be wiggling your big toe in the sand on HH beach in 10 minutes even if you get a clear run across Petch Road. it's about 2km by my reckoning so 20 minutes would be more realistic. :thumb:
