Takes less than 7 days turnaround. I provide a latest date it has to be back in Hua Hin. You do not need to send your passport, only a photocopy. I send my info registered mail.

Here's what the Embassy say...

'Thank you for your email.

For one year retirement visa, you need to have income/pension at least THB 65,000 per month or THB 800,000 in Thai bank account for at least 3 months before the visa is due.

Regarding the Pension/Income letter to the Thai Immigration, the Notarial Team needs:

1. to see the up to date, original supporting documents such as letters from pension providers or the print out electronic banking statements.

2. photo copy of passport ( only the page that has your photo and details on it)

3. the fee of 2250 for the letter and another 100 for the return postage (postal order cashable at Nana post office 10112 in the name of British Embassy)

4. contact phone number

5. summary of your income/pension

Recently I was reading an article that had an interview with the outgoing British Ambassador and he stated that providing these letters was the biggest part of the work of the Consulate.

I can believe that Steve as I read too that an estimated 80,000 Brits live here all the time....not the 600-700k UK tourists that annually turn up.

Hmmm 80,000 Brits, if that is the case figure another 100,000 from other countries = 180,000 foreign residents.

Lets say 2/3 use the 800,000 deposit

180,000 x 2/3 = 120,000 x 800,000 tb = 96,000,000,000 on deposit in Thai banks.

assumptions off the top of my head, but that is pretty good deposits in the bank
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

Nereus wrote:Yes, Lomu is correct. Immigration can, and will, examine your bankbook to see that you are using the account to live on. If you have another account that you use for living expenses you MAY get away with that if you can prove where the money in it came from. Funds payed into your account show where the amount originated, such as: FFT for a foreign transfer.

I have had them query an amount paid in that was a refund from a school deposit.

I think Khundon meant as he is not living here permanently, then he just keeps the account in the event that he does need it.
Thats correct Nereus
