I'm going to hazard a guess that you're using 3BB!

No browser issues here though IE is usually slower at refreshing as it relies so much on its cache.

It's not worth losing any sleep over anyway IMHO. Yes, I do use 3BB, but I have to confess that I don't understand how using 3BB would produce different messages on different browsers. Don't worry, it won't keep me awake tonight :D

OK, I just posted my post on the 'Chipping a Cat' thread 4-5 minutes ago and it hasn't registered yet too. I'm using Firefox 14.

Here's the screen shot 5 minutes later and have cleared the cache etc. Maybe it's Firefox but it's definitely slow. I use 3BB but don't see why that could explain it.......please enlighten me.

The ISPs often have problems with caching webpages, 3BB is notorious for it, its the only logical answer at the moment as there is nothing wrong with the software.

Not that it'll make a difference if the ISP doesn't want it to, but it might be worth setting up nocache headers on the plugin

Rather than start a new thread I'll put this here, but I'd like to ask why the 'Classifieds' section has the 'nanny squad' approval system before your post registers?

I know it was a mare a long time ago and led to it being locked indefinitely but since you have reopened it it has hardly been a troll magnet.

I'm sure I'm missing something but can you refresh us as to why these days there is still a need for this filter of posts.

Does it really have the potential for going south so quick that it needs a mod filter?

I know nothing, of course, and am happy with whatever you deem prudent but would like to ask the question.

Does this section get 'hand-baggy' if left to it's own devices admin/mods?

Some adverts in Classifieds attract a small payment. All adverts are vetted first, and some are directed towards Admin, who will give the advertiser the opportunity to pay for their advert.

You would not believe the amount of people that want to freeload on it with real estate ads.

Yes, OK, fair enough gentlemen.....that makes sense and no dramas. Blocking the free-loaders and sad brigade is a more than a reasonable reason. Cheers for the 'heads-up'. :thumb:

Thanks.

Sorry to bother you again on this thread gents of admin/mod persuasion but I'd like to know why the 'Events & Activities" forum on the index page has a perpetual file sign on it to signify that it has no new posts even if there are as with the Wado Karate thread post tonight. I've cleared my cache and read everything, even done the 'mark all threads read" option.

Sure there's a reasonable explanation but it seems to be the only forum that has it (or suffers from it) on the index page.

Here's a screen shot of it........... :?

I believe it's something to do with the Golf sub-forum.

It's to do with the Golf sub-forum.
Well, if that's true, then it's up to them what they post on their sub-forum but I/we fail to see why it should interject on the mainstream forum regarding the majority of posters, and the general index, as many couldn't give a toss about golf.

Not everyone loves golf despite the procrastinations of a few.

Be careful. Another thread got locked for debating this issue!

I know it's not you guys fault at admin but it's a mare on the update/cache factor 3BB regarding the 'Latest Topics' tickers......have to leave it for 20 mins or go out and clear cache/registry with CCleaner etc to get a decent reading on the ticker.

To add insult to injury, 3BB are greedy because as soon as you pay your month's Internet subscription in advance for the future month, then 4 days later they send you the next months bill in advance to sit in your draw for four weeks. :|

If their service department was as good as their finance/billing department then we'd all have a 'smoking hot' service. :cuss:
