New Rule for Retirement Extensions

Post by lomuamart »

Just a heads up on paperwork for the above. There's a new boss at HH Imm so there's a new rule. They want a copy of your blue/yellow house book which I don't have as I rent.
In that instance they want a copy of the owner's ID card and their address in HH. Again I didn't have that as it's never been asked for before.
However, I got lucky and was let off this year but I'll need it for next.

Well, to be honest, I have always thought it was required. I know that I always take both the book, and a copy. Cannot remember if they have kept the copy in the past as part of the extension, but as the copies are not in the folder I keep for such rubbish, I presume they have kept them.
Maybe they are using it as an excuse to catch up with rental owners that are not paying tax?

My name is not in the "Blue Book", and I guess that they just assume that if you have possession of the book, then it proves that that is your address?

All I've taken in previous years is a copy of the lease agreement which I gave again today.
I also reckon that it may be a tax thing.

Immigration certainly kept a copy of our blue book a couple of weeks ago but cannot be sure about last year.

I received my retirement extension last week and was asked for the yellow book as well. Oddly, the workaround was simply for me to draw a map to my home on a blank sheet of paper.

Reading the above, I shall shortly be settling in Hua Hin, having been fortunate to have a property there for a few years now. I guess now on top of all I need to extend my single entry O visa, I now need a yellow book, where and how do I get one?

Here's a thread to get you started until others come on this morning. Pete

It now appears that they want a copy of the owners ID card also ( if the blue book is in a Thai persons (eg wife) name

A Blue Book does not have to have any names in it, it is a document that belongs to the house, not a person. My book is an example.
I suppose what Hua Hin "want", and what the law requires, is again up to them! :banghead:

I add this into this thread but please start a new thread Lomu if you think needed.

Does anyone have a feeling that retirement qualifications are about to tighten? I'm not saying this just because of the possible bank issues noted below, but because of tourist numbers as well. Tourism from China is booming as well as from ASEAN countries, India and the ME. If revenue from those sources continues to grow as projected, I feel the benefit from foreign retirees living here may diminish in their minds. As we know they would much rather have foreigners come and go and leave their money here, rather than have them here permanently. It's just a gut feel I have that change may be in the wind. That has some huge implications for those wanting to get a 1 year retirement extension based upon the 800,000 Baht bank account method. More details need to be found and posted. Perhaps banks won't for those with no visa or a tourist visa, but will for those with a non-immigrant visa? There has to be exceptions unless the Immigration Dept. is also about to come out with some major changes in the qualifications/procedures to obtain a retirement extension. Pete

I renewed mine yesterday and had to provide the following:
Form TM7
copy of passport
Photo
Letter from bank
copy of house registration/rental or residence map- I provided a hand drawn map.

All finished in less than 15 minutes.
