I must admit, I've often seen cars double parked as you describe, but didn't realise that they were moveable.

When I was living in Jakarta some years ago, it was normal to double park like that even in busier streets, there were people who made a living by taking a few coins to push the cars backwards and forwards to let people out. The thing is, you had to make sure that your front wheels were absolutely straight as well as the handbrake off, as your car could end up moving quite a way if you left it there for a couple of hours.

That's why I try to go there alone or else we end up up with something we DESPERATELY NEED even though we've managed fine without it for more than a decade.

Yes, but not enough to buy a ginormous steamer!

There's an English movie in the cinema today, so we're almost certainly going. Nobody confirmed that I'd have to pay to park my car for the cinema, but is my assumption right please?

No, you don't have to pay. If you take the parking token plus a receipt for a certain amount to the desk (3rd floor somewhere) they will validate it and you can stay longer e.g. a movie. The cinema tickets cost enough to get this from memory. Its a bit of a nuisance, and sometimes it is just better paying! But possible not to. Sorry I can't remember all the exact details to hand, but it is possible.

Enjoy the film!

Another tip:

Do it before the movie as the desk closes before the last showing finishes.

Mission accomplished :D

Showed the car park token to the guy who checks the tickets, and he took it to a machine about 10 feet from him. Placed the token on the machine, and it was done.

When the movie had finished, the machine was still there, and plenty of people were placing their tokens on the machine and doing their own validation.

 We actually read the token last night, and you get 3 hours parking before you have to pay. (TIT, and the token we we given last night said that. However, I can't vouch for what is written on every other token).

Don't knock it BB. If you have ever used a 'secure' car park in the UK only to find your car either a) nicked from it or b) vandalised on it there's a pretty good case for security and REAL staff around. Plus it provides jobs - not a bad thing?

Didn't think I was knocking anything in my latest post - certainly no intention to do so. Or are you talking about the entire token concept? I still think it's crazy in the likes of Villa Market
