Johnnyk you must be American, shown by your lack of knowledge, Hockey is played by men and women. The Americans entered a female team in the olympics but not a mens team, probably because they could not wear full body armour to stop the nasty ball hurting them.
At higher levels the game is played on a artificial surface to stop an uneven bounce of the ball.

Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

Not American, I'm afraid. Be careful about assumptions.lindosfan1 wrote:Johnnyk you must be American, shown by your lack of knowledge, Hockey is played by men and women. I know about field hockey and it is dead boring, too big a field and too slow. Body armor not necessary because not much happens. Hockey players wear padding not because they are frightened of the puck hitting them (though that hurts too as it can be travelling @100mph and its 6oz. of hard rubber). Its because 220-lb guys moving at 25-30mph or 50-60mph combined impact can hurt each other, which they do frequently (very few have their front teeth after age 25).

See, another Americanism,
Sports teams wear kit, soldiers wear uniforms.

BTW what came first hockey or ice-hockey?
