90 day reporting requirements

Post by stevieboy »

I recently renewed my annual non o retirement visa. I am unclear as to when the 90 day reporting rule begins? I re entered thailand on July 12th. My annual visa was to expire on Sept 25th so I went to immigrations and renewed it on sept 19th. What day does the 90 day clock start ticking or was it ticking from july 12th? Thanks in advance for your response as i am confused!

There should be a piece of paper stapled inside the front cover of your passport with the date on. If not, pop in and ask immigration.
This is the way

The re-entry and visa extension dates run separately. The fact that you extended again dosn't re-set the 90 day reporting.
However, your coming back here from abroad should re-set the 90 days from then.
It's happened to me before and I just went on the date stapled into my passport and acted dumb.
If it's not too much trouble, then I'd go on the report date. After all, it seems that you havn't reported your whereabouts within 24 hours of getting back here and local Imm seem to have a problem with that by all accounts.
Don't give them the chance to fine you
EDIT: sorry, should have read your report date and extension date run separately.

Unless you had Immigration extend the 90 days from Sept 19th you will need to report 90 days from July 12th ( and as said above this date will be stamped on the reporting slip or re-entry doc stapled in your passport )

The rule is 90 consecutive days in the country. If you're here for 80, depart and re-enter then the clock starts at day one again, so as PET says, your 90 days starts from July 12th.
However, quite often Imm at the airport won't change the stapled 90 day report form so you'll have to show local Imm your entry stamp and let them calculate the 90 days from then.
I just find it easier to go on the "old date" and act stupid.
