A nice one to speculate: The commentator during the ongoing ManC vs Sunderland match talking about that the tweeter comments seem to be a big problem for many players at the moment. Then the camera spotted Martin O'Neill and the commentator said: "He never had any tweeter problems while he played for Brian Clough, wonder what he would have made out of that?" Me too, I'd love to hear what kind of thing Cloughey would have said. There would have been a few red ears around.

Good result for Arsenal yesterday, apart from West Ham`s fantastic goal they played the way of all Allardyce`s teams, pump the ball up front and hope the lump of a centre forward can push the defence away and score. West Ham were always known as a good footballing side, not now though.
And another thing, their scorer got stupidly booked for over celebrating and later comitted a really bad foul which deserved another yellow then red, according to the commentators he got away with it because of his previous booking. Where is the sense in that?

I can see Villa being relegated this season. The funds have dried up and its been on the cards for the last couple of seasons. They may be okay if others are worse? Norwich fit the bill and with luck, QPR also.

Any views on Friedal being dropped after 310 successive premiership games? Quite a record.

As for AVB? Well he was quoted as saying he never doubted his abilty. Most managers would have said they never doubted their teams ability.

The Saints drew, Liverpool still can't score and United are mugging the geordies. I had a geordie win in IKTS, I wasn't aware their centre backs were injured! ManU scored from 2 set pieces in the 1st 10 minutes or so - both through poor defending - have done nothing since but just got a 3rd from a cross cum shot. Before that, it looked as if Newcastle had another of those was it wasn't it over the line things, which if given, would have made it interesting.

Didn’t see the games – had to work most of the weekend!

So we managed to beat Villa at home – and why not I ask?

But here’s the strange thing; If we can go to Trafford Park and beat United 3-2 on their turf, why do we only manage to put 2 past Villa (Who are not particularly on top form) when we are at home?

If we are to contend for a top four place, we not only need to win, but we need to score a few more to up the GD and I think maybe we missed a chance here. (But as I said – I did not see the game).

Also – to maintain the top four potential, we have to beat the teams above us as of now, at least once during the season. OK – we managed it AT United.

The big question is can we do it at home against Chelsea?
If we do THAT, then I might agree that AVB is ‘The Man’

Now, in AVB we probably have someone with a good enough dose of motivation to do just that. Let's hope that he can get the team to deliver on the day.

The jury is still out for AVB as far as I'm concerned. The Man U victory is the only real stunner we've had so far this season and let's be honest - that came with a huge dollop of (well-deserved!) good fortune.

We should be beating teams like Villa, West Brom, QPR, etc. as a matter of course. I didn't see the Villa game either (bloody Astro showed the Southampton and Liverpool (yawn) games), but it seems to have been a comfortable victory that should probably have been by 4 rather than 2. I said last season that we couldn't go on scoring so few when we were creating so many chances and that still applies.

Having said that, I'm happy that we're moving in the right direction, but as Terry said, the next real test is next weekend against an in-form Chelsea, not just in the result, but in our attitude and approach to the game.

I thought Liverpool were really uninspiring last night; they are in serious danger of becoming the Spurs of 5+ years ago - a mid-table club with an occasional moment of inspiration. I missed quite a bit of the game while crying with laughter at Suarez's antics. Bit difficult to complain that nobody takes you seriously if you keep doing prat-falls.

EDIT: I was a bit surprised to see Friedel dropped for last night's game. I can only assume Lloris is doing amazing things in training. AVB would have looked pretty stupid if Lloris had dropped a clanger. Maybe he felt he had to show some faith in our long-term future no.1, but I would have thought cup games would have done for now.

I'm a HUGE fan of Friedel - always have been, even before we got him at the Lane.

However, he's no spring chicken, and that impressive long run of starts has to end some time.
When is the right time?, I ask...................don't really know

From AVB's viewpoint, I guess he wants to show that the No 1 jersey is not Friedel's by right, especially having spent so much on Lloris as a future keeper.
I would think that Friedel might be a bit peeved - only he can say.

For me, there's nothing wrong with a bit of competition for the place - after all, footy is a TEAM game.

The first 15 minutes of last nights game was like watching the Manchester United of old.....
A slick passing game,2-0 up and should have been two more with misses from Welbeck and Rafael.
Why cant they play like that more often ? I couldnt make my mind up if it was United being excellent or Newcastle woeful.....a bit of both,I think.
Then Newcastle got back into the game....how the ball didnt go into the net in the second half from Ba's header and Cisses shot in the same attack,I dont know.....credit to De Gea,I spose.
Cleverlys third looked good but did he mean it ?
Last season Cisse was on fire for Newcastle but has been a damp squib,so far,this time around.....I bet the Geordies wish they had snapped up Andy Carroll.

And a useful point for Liverpool at home to Stoke.....keeps them just out of the relegation mire.
