PTT raises gasoline and gasohol prices on par with other oil

Post by dr dave soul monsta »

BANGKOK, Aug 1 (TNA) - Thailand's petroleum giant, PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), has decided to raise its retail prices of gasoline and gasohol by Bt0.40 per litre, taking effect from August 1, citing a very low marketing margin in gasoline.

Given the company's latest move, from 05:00 a.m. Tuesday, the prices of premium and regular gasoline, as well as gasohol offered by PTT's service stations in Bangkok and its surrounding provinces will be on par with those offered by all other local oil traders--Bt30.19 per litre for premium gasoline, Bt29.39 per litre for regular gasoline and Bt28.69 per litre for gasohol.

All local oil traders, except PTT, increased their retail prices of gasoline and gasohol by Bt0.40 per litre last Saturday.

The retail price of diesel, however, remains unchanged at Bt27.54 per litre.

Chaivat Churitti, PTT Senior Executive Vice President for Oil Business Group, said Monday that continued global oil price hikes--with the price of crude oil in Dubai, as well as the prices of premium gasoline and diesel in Singapore now surging to US$69.45, US$86.88 and US$86.39 per barrel respectively --had reduced the company's marketing margin from gasoline to only around Bt0.20 per litre and forced the company to have no other means, but raise the retail gasoline and gasohol prices by Bt0.40 per litre on par with other local oil traders.

"While PTT cut its retail fuel prices of all categories by Bt0.40 per liter on July 26, global oil prices have increased sharply and continuously due to ongoing violence in the Middle East between Israel and Lebanon, in particular. Because of the higher cost, the company's marketing margin of gasoline has dropped to only Bt0.20 per litre. So, the company needs to increase the gasoline and gasohol prices by Bt0.40 baht per liter from August 1," he told journalists.

Oil local oil traders, nonetheless, have decided to keep the retail diesel price unchanged.
