Thai ID Card at Age 7
This may have been covered before but not sure. The new law as of last year is that all Thai citizens starting at age 7 need to have an ID card. Previously the age was 15. No need to go to Bangkok or anyplace special, just to your local Amphur office. Only document needed is the child's Thai birth certificate. We haven't determined yet how long this first card is valid for. Will advise on that later on. Pete

Re: Thai ID Card at Age 7
Can you take a look BB and see how long it's valid for? Likenesses change rapidly when young and surprised if it's the normal full length card.....but as we know here.....pick the opposite of what you think and usually you are correct!Big Boy wrote:Yes, my youngest grand daughter got her a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Thai ID Card at Age 7
Thanks. That's really a surprise it's so long. I guess up to or close to the previous age when getting one was mandatory. The adult card the wife has is good for 7 years. PeteBig Boy wrote:She has to renew the card in 2021.

Our eldest got one about six months ago, he is 7 and it lasts for 5 years.

Re: Thai ID Card at Age 7
I know this is Thailand and all that, but why would there be such a discrepancy in renewal dates? 5 years or 9 years - you'd think they could show some consistency there.buksida wrote:Our eldest got one about six months ago, he is 7 and it lasts for 5 years.
