Converting negatives into digital photos

Post by buksida »

I've just unearthed a bag of negatives from photos I shot on my travels 12 years ago using a film SLR.

Is it possible to have these converted into digital images? If so can the local places do it and what is the approx cost?

Cheers.

Cant say for definite, but my first call would be the photo shop at the bottom of the night market opp Swensens.

Have never done what you want doing, but other photo stuff they have always done nicely for me.

Buksida,
If you cannot find any one to sort it out for you could look at doing it yourself .I have a Cannon MP990 scanner/ printer and do my negs and slides with it. Reasonable results too.

I got 1000's done about 5 years ago at The Mall Bangkapi BKK. Don't remember what they charged but was very cheap and high res scans. Left them with them for about a week as I imagine it's a labourios job if the scanner cannot feed a bunch of negs.

If there is anywhere around that can do that sort of thing, I would be interested as well as I have a couple of hundred 35mm slides of ships and aircraft that I took with an old Nikon SLR back in the 80's.
I don't own a slide projector anymore, I imagine they're all in museums!

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look and report back if I find anywhere in town that can do it.

I've found some old slides. Can they be converted too?

Found a place that did it, the Kodak shop on Petchkasem opposite the Esso station. Wasn't cheap though at 200 baht per set and the colour was nowhere near that of the originals, not sure if this was due to degradation of the negs or their conversion process.
