Pasta Factory review, sorry disappointed

Post by Roppongi »

Went there tonight after reading some impressive reviews in the local guidebooks and have to be honest and say I found it overrated.

Leafy tropical setting looks good but THUNDERING noise from the road ruins the atmosphere. TV showing F-1 racing and a closed garden area "because of the rain" (it didn't rain all day in my area) further destroys the ambience.

Food was substandard.

Wines were good value.

Sorry, won't be going back.

I am not impressed with the food there either. In fact, Pasta Factory food is second rate. I much perfer Mama Mia just down from Burger King. TThe other place that i like is the Italian restauant across from the Hilton.(excellent tortonlelli).

Well I certainly disagree with you both. :guns: :guns:
I have been there many times and to the previous location opposite the Sofitel and have never had a poor meal. They have always been excellent.
Did either of you mention your thoughts of the food quality to Nut or Hannes as they are always very eager to please and receive feedback?
Yes the traffic noise since the Market Village has opened has increased and Hannes is trying to do something about it and about the loud music coming from the Market Village.

I suggest that you give it another try and speak to Hannes and I'm sure you will change your mindes.

Actually, I have spoken to Hannes about his food. His arrogant Swiss- Italian nature does not receive criticism very well. He thinks that clean washrooms will make up for any shortcomings in his food. I expect clean washrooms in any half decent place. I guess we just have different ideas what good food is all about. So, I will take my business elsewhere.

Got to be honest my son was here for a month recently and loves pasta.

He and his girlfriend loved the place.

Have tried it just twice.

I find the food quality is good, although the quantites are far from Italian-size pasta dishes. Saying that I'm not sure they claim to be an Italian restaurant, just a Pasta Restaurant.

Ambience is good, but as stated a little noisy.

Can't say I'm a major fan, but am sure I will find myself eating there again - must remeber to order allittle extra next time (although this makes is a little pricey).

I must add, I've eaten in theone opposite the Hilton a few times, and I find this not so good.

Actually I did mate, and he didn't take it too well. Shrugged his shoulders and said "what can I do?"

He could install some glass to make the place quieter, could also hire a real chef.

Been to Pasta Factory twice, first time was pretty good, second time was crap. Consistency is difficult because staff turnover is high. Not an easy job running a restaurant out here. Had a pizza in Mama Mia last week - excellent.

Used to go to Pasta Factory when it was in Satukarn Square. Food quality and portion size was very good. Both portion size and quality has gone down since moving first opposite the Sofitel and laterly opposite the Market Village.

Think that the only thing he can do about the road noise and the market village is move to another location.

One of the biggest gripes when the place was opposite the Sofitel was that the tables were almost on top of each other. Result is your food is always ruined by some berk lighting up a fag when you are half way through your meal.

I have always found the pizzas at Pizza Corner to be very good indeed. :thumb:

I'm assuming you mean the "original" Pizza Corner, on the corner of the Hilton road, not that new franchise in Sailom Pavilion - wouldn't rate that one at all. Like Pizza Corner for pizzas, Mama Mias for risotto & pasta & La Villa for both :D

Must admit, haven't been to Pasta Factory since it's opening do. Used to go when it was opposite Sofitel & liked the pasta. The new location just isn't convenient if you don't drive. :|

Mmmm, I love crispy bases. Can't understand why people go for those disgusting, doughy deep pan bases in those well known franchises! Really authentic!

My experience was that the food was exqiusite and the portions just the right size, I think PJG may be forgetting that in the heat of Hua Hin large portions of food aren't really manageable, and the best way to eat is little and often. Great ambience, friendly staff, perfect food (and I do mean perfect), what more can you ask?
