Rock Concert, Hin Lek Fire, Sunday 9th Dec

Post by Big Boy »

I've seen posters around town (sorry, driving, so couldn't take a photograph). I'm hoping that somebody knows some more about it.

- What time does it kick off?
- Is it free, or do you need a ticket?
- Is this an annual concert? If so, has anybody been before?
- Is it any good?

Any information, gratefully received.

The 9th Annual “I Love Hua Hin” Concert is being organized by the Preserve Hua Hin Group and the Hua Hin municipality in honor of the 84th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King. The event is going to be held on Sunday, 9 December 2012 in the public park on top of Hin Lek Fai hill, the viewpoint overlooking Hua Hin.

The evening’s list of performers includes the 60s rock-n-rollers Tang Kay Rumble Band, the Hin Lek Fai Band, Khun Bouay’s Country Rock Band, and classical guitar with Jenny and Soyeon on violin. Concert T-shirts are provided for all attendees and complimentary food will be provided by the local hotels and restaurants in Hua Hin.

All proceeds are utilized to fund PHHG environmental and social programmes in the municipality and raise awareness among the general public.

No idea of ticket prices

Not sure if I can post this link but here goes www.preservehuahin.com

OK, another question. My son is the head banger, not me. He's looked at the headline act, and wouldn't mind going, but he wouldn't want to sit down. Does anybody know of the arrangements/cost if you don't want a VIP seat please?

Hi BB - as posted above

VIP Reserved Seating for 1,000 baht includes wine, beer, food and concert T-shirt

500 baht includes only food and concert T-shirt

So 500 baht without a VIP seat, but includes food & T-shirt.

I've been to these concerts before and it's good fun.
It's a really good venue and a great atmosphere there.

Thanks barrys - I obviously need my eyes tested. I read that as VIP seat with beer 1000 Baht; VIP seat without beer 500 Baht.

I have been before and its a nice atmosphere, worth going, but your son should not be expecting a mosh pit, it is Save Hua Hin, after all, the customers all tend to be older.

I've been to a couple of these concerts and the crowd is pretty mixed - you also get the younger people from BKK there - and all those Singha and other girls didn't look that old at all ..... :D

My son has often commented at how reserved Thai audiences are. He says they just sit or stand there, and do very little else. Therefore, a lack of a Mosh Pit will come as no surprise :D

He's still undecided as to whether he wants to go. The headliners attract him, but the classical guitar and violins are putting him off bit - he doesn't appreciate real music. :banghead: :banghead:

[Edit] I live at the base of the mountain, so expect to hear the entire concert from my front porch.

I wonder if you can take your own beer if you go for the 500 baht option? Or can you buy it?
And also exactly what beer and wine, and how much, is included in the 1000 baht option?

You might be disappointed we live on the road leading up to the view point and apart from the testing of the sound system have yet to hear anything in all the time we have been here. The only noticeable thing is the increase in traffic going up to the view point.

You were right moja, we didn't hear a thing :D. We could see the lights though, which were the only evidence that something was going on. My son opted not to attend in the end, the mix of Genres was too obscure for him.

Did anybody here attend? How was it?
